I've seen Chronicles of Narnia book 1: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. If you ask me much more appealing than the Potter series. Enigmatical! But dunno if kids gonna like it though... They'd be seeing creatures clashed against each other to their deaths! Macabre! Wheeewww! Such cruelty to animals! Hehehe! ;D But it's all for the fun of it! ;D Watch it, Guys... in the big screen! Two thumbs up! In a nutshell, The Chronicles of Narnia is a series of seven fantasy novels for children written by C.S. Lewis. They present the adventures of children who play central roles in the unfolding history of the realm of Narnia, a place where some animals talk, magic is common, and good is fighting evil.

saw a shoutbox post by marc this morning, something about the writer of Narnia- C.S. Lewis.
some tidbits i'd like to share: C.S. Lewis and Tolkien (LOTR) were good buddies. when they were small timers, they made a promise to each other to write a book about other worlds, goblins, hobbits and magical kingdoms.
C.S. Lewis is a firm believer of God but that was in his latter years. he was once an atheist, reading and studying Sigmund Freud (philosopher who coined the terms: pleasure principle, interpretation of dreams, ego/superego, etc...).
Some (these days) consider C.S. Lewis a philosopher as well.

"ser magic natin test mo?" ang wala lang, good fighting evil!

I highly recommend C.S. Lewis's Mere Christianity for those who "want to strengthen their faith but find their intellect getting in the way." What's nice about Lewis is that he uses extensive logic to help you understand Christianity, such that while reading this book you'd usually come across a lot of 'oooo, oo nga no? makes sense'. He doesn't cram the doctrine down your throat and say 'believe!' For a more divine comedy type of work, try The Screwtape Letters. The book is basically correspondences between a Master Devil and his apprentice nephew who is trying his best to tempt someone. Very funny , very enlightening, very disturbing OT na, Movie Review pala to, we should start Book Review

Very funny , very enlightening, very disturbing OT na, Movie Review pala to, we should start Book Review sir marcs, follow-up lang to your OT: i have both of those c.s. lewis' books you mentioned. great reading indeed (masterpieces, actually), especially "Mere Christianity". the Screwtape Letters is like Bono (of U2) dressing up like the devil (a.k.a. McPhisto) in order to mock him, not to glorify the old master of lies. i've also seen LW+W ("Lion, Witch & the Wardrobe") on vcd but it was the BBC version that was orginally aired in 1988. even if the effects were "low-tech" (as compared to present day CGI spectacles), it's the story that will get you thinking. Narnia was described as a place where it is "always winter, but never Christmas". to find out why, see the movie (or better yet, read the book! ). p.s. Book Review thread - great idea, sir marcs!

Just saw "The Girl in The Cafe" and liked it very much--as much as I did "Love Actually" by the same writer. Siempre all-time fave ko pa rin is "Braveheart".

Blue Moon by Regal Films heheheheheh sige na labas na mga in-the-closet romantic dyan!!!! Set in the 1940s, the flim touches on American-era Philippines as it weaves it's story across 3 generations of Pineda's. It's about a dying man's (Eddie Garcia as Manuel Pineda) final search for his long lost love. The story may be rote in terms of the usual searching for your one true love, but the way the story is said is quite interesting. Dami pang quotable quotes . . . "Ang ibon daw nagpapadala lang sa hanging kapag may hinahanap . . . " mwahahahaha PS sinamahan ko kasi si kumander manood

last year madami remake/version yung Hollywood, latest na yung KING KONG.

i think blue thunder came out as a movie first in the 70's before becoming a series.
Steve Martin remake a Peter Seller's classic " the Pink Panther " and also rumor has it that Nicolas Cage will be playing the " Ghost Rider "
i would like to see The A-team on the big Screen, But who would play B.A.? Batista perhaps, or Micheal Clark Duncan, Probably the Rock
if you ask Mr. T he'll probably answer you the same old stuff... " i'm too old for this $hit fool " hehehe ;D

Finally saw Narnia - The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe and I tell you this movie rocks! It's quite faithful to the book and a lot of the important moments in the book were wonderfully captured in the movie. Brings out the little kid in you, the kind that had always searched for adventure and magic, and the kind that had always believed in good fighting evil. Great movie, something parents should take their children to watch, and have a grand time watching as well. I loved the book, I loved the play, and now I love the movie! Hmmm, I wonder which book they'll do next . . . Book 1: The Magician's Nephew (sort of a prequel so perhaps it'd be best to show this last in here we see the creation of Narnia) Book 2: The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe Book 3: A Horse and His Boy (sort of like a side story during the reign of the 4 children) Book 4: Prince Caspian (my money's on this being the next movie. Story takes hundreds(?) of years after Book 2) Book 5: Voyage of the Dawn Treader (sana movie 3 eto, another great quest aboard the ship Dawn Treader, mala Star Trek Voyager Book 6: Silver Chair (currenty reading . . . Book 7: The Last Battle

Don't Give Up On Us Baby!!!! Piolo and Juday together!!! mwahahahaha
seriously, this movie had nice shots of the mountain province. i'm pretty sure more people might troop to Banaue and Sagada during the holidays coz of this movie.
In fairness I actually found the dialogue in the movie quite witty and funny at times. And the story actually had potential.
Unfortunately, it seemed the writer or director realized the script has been 2 hours long and just decided to end the story just like that. It actually feels na pinilit yung ending, as if the producer said, hanggang dito na lang, tapusin nyo na.
Interestingly, when I checked out their website, the Synopsis did narrate a different ending for the US release of the movie. Could it be they ended this thing in a cheesy fashion to appeal to the Filipino masa?

I found The Matador (Pierce Brosnan, Greg Kinnear) entertaining. Nothing deep, but worth the money. Bronsnan's first attempt since leaving MI-6 at breaking off the James Bond mold (his other films, Thomas Crown, Tailor of Panama, etc. still kept him wearing the suave secret agent's attitude). While it did remind me in some ways of 'Tailor', his role as an assasin undergoing a mid-life crisis makes this one a bit more interesting. Kinnear as the shock-absorber of Brosnan's ironic situation was no less entertaining. I found the movie choc-full of funny lines and scenes! Personally, I think it's worth watching at the movies... moreso if you're a Brosnan and Bond fan.

lately im beginning to notice clive owen's performance. terrific! saw him lately in Derailed co-starring jennifer aniston. slow at the start... sort of dragging- made me think of walking out. good thing i stuck it through. the plot was very different, it has a grand twist. i'd recommend it. i like clive owen's convincing performance in Closer (co-starring julia roberts). you'll end up hating him there- at least his character, but you'll love his acting. in Derailed, you'll love him even better! hmmmm... balbon pa!
