Last weekend I saw - Deuce Bigelow: European Gigolo - Not as funny as the original. OT.. did you guys know Rob Schneider is half Pilipino? The mother is a pure pinay. Yup. He always has Filipino references in his movies. And his mom always makes an appearance. Dunno if he speaks Tagalog though. I know Kirk Hammet (Metallica) does.

NAPOLEON DYNAMITE (released 2004; starring Jon Heder, Tina Majorino, Hailey Duff & other non-major stars)
The catchline on the poster is "He's out to prove he's got nothing to prove." A very, very funny movie (at least for me it was) eventhough it's not a laugh-out-loud, Jim Carrey-type flick. More like a mixture of South Park, Beavis & Butthead & Forrest Gump (?). Critics have categorized this film as "absurd comedy". Huge doses of silliness & nerdi-ness. 80's kids (like me) will most probably relate to this movie because of its overall look & soundtrack.
Trivia: The entire movie was shot in 22 days.
Bonus: He became friends (& later best friends) with Pedro because of the latter's mountain bike. ;D

Had a mini movie marathon this weekend, which happened to include a trio of films with Ryan Reynolds in it:
Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle (Reynolds as Male Nurse) Van Wilder - Party Liaison (starring Reynolds) Waiting (Reynolds as waiter/coolguy Monty) -- now showing at local theatres!
If you guys want a real laughtrip without getting high, watch these three movies! Waiting was especially funny because I know so many people in the food service biz -- restaurant owners, line chefs, waiters, etc. -- and I've seen what goes on in the kitchen and what happens after closing time.
Other good movies this weekend: Elephant Man (Anthony Hopkins), Spanglish (Adam Sandler), and Twisted (Ashley Judd). Hopkins is brilliant, Spanglish is good as a movie but I feel Sandler's losing his edge, and Twisted was okay.

yikes. while i wanted to throw jodie foster outta the plane (ganun sya ka-intense), i thought the story was implausible. i mean, aliens abducting your child at 37,000 feet? whoops! sorry, spoiler ;D *joke lang, there are no aliens, only arabs.... whoops!* ;D
i liked DOMINO a bit better, though i wish they just focused on the story of the heist instead of domino harvey's life.

lucban - try contacting MOWELFUND ranran - i agree actually, GOBLET OF FIRE is the first book in the series where someone died, killed by Voldemort (well, not counting Harry's parents who were already dead when the series began). for me nagma-mature na yung series, it's getting into darker and darker corners, the threat from Voldemort becoming more real. sadly, mas masarap pa rin basahin kesa panoorin, di kasi ma-capture yung full nuance ng book sa movie...

... sadly, mas masarap pa rin basahin kesa panoorin, di kasi ma-capture yung full nuance ng book sa movie... rite on sis, the migration to the big screen sometimes distorts the story, it just loses out its touch ... unless ahem ... u know, there are scenes na mas magandang nakikita kesa binabasa hehehe ... ;D ;D ;D

Kaya I always make it a point to read the book first before the movie, especially if there are a lot of 'behind the scene' explanations. (e.g. Crichton novels usually had a lot of scientific ek ek) which of course cannot be captured by the film). As for Harry Potter, I think the migration is pretty good. Although may mga scenes na naputol. Either ganun kagaling yung director or the book didn't really have that much 'depth' in the first place rite on sis, the migration to the big screen sometimes distorts the story, it just loses out its touch ... unless ahem ... u know, there are scenes na mas magandang nakikita kesa binabasa hehehe ... ;D ;D ;D ;D eheheh well sa LORD OF THE RINGS i liked the movies better than the books ;D

yeah I like Chronicles of Narnia. I mean, C.S. Lewis is, for me, one of the greater Christian writers, lalo na if you find "your logic getting in the way of your faith" And yes, if you read the second book, The Lion, The Witch, and The Wardrobe, you'd see a lot of symbolism with Christinanity. Like the world in constant winter as a symbolism for sin covering the world ("It's always winter but never Christmas"). but of course, up to you if you want to read it that way. It's a good children's book in itself. can't wait for the movie nga eh (and also hoping that Trumpets would show this again as a play). oh, best buds yan si Lewis at Tolkien.

may nakapanuod na ba ng pagdadalaga ni max? ganda ba? me, i liked it i liked the way sometimes there's no dialogue in some scenes. nakakainis lang yung musical scoring (by pepe smith). dun sa mga "love scenes", lots of people in the audience cringed and squirmed in their seats heheh ;D

I bought 24 season 1-3, i just finished season 1 & 2 in one week. I really liked the story and the thrill on guessing who is the prime suspect. Story twists in unexpected situation. Its really exciting to know how would the story ends. So in my eagerness, I finished the 2 seasons in one week. My brad finished it only in 3 days. hehehe... I didnt expect the story is extremely breathtaking coz when i watched some episodes in channel 2 in tagalog version na baduyan ako. English version is a lot better. its worth watching.
