Personally I think that these full-contact fights are horrible! Like boxing, here is a sport where you have to beat up another human being to win! And you certainly cannot pull your punches otherwise you'll be the one ending up in the canvas or in the stretcher!
I thought boxing was bad enough- even with the padded gloves, referees and limited type of blows you can throw, occasionally some boxers still die.
It must take a lot of guts and determination to make boxing or UFC style fighting a vocation or a means to make a living. These people deserve respect even on that count alone.
The Roman spectators probably felt the same kind of excitement in the days of the gladiator.

I thinkk sir there is no more open weight category because of the danger it may inflict...too much weight difference between two different fighters will render an advantage to the other and vise-versa...
the largest weight difference I think now today in M.M.A. is around 25 and it happens mostly in the heavyweight and heavier category...
I have watched a bout with 60Lbs difference and it really give the cheese to the Heavier fighter... it's between an African Muay-thai and a white Karatedo/judo practioner

a friend of mine used steroids on his pit bulls before a fight But that was no time limits , fight ends when the owner taps I wonder how much help or how big a diff PEDs are in MMA Too many fighters defeating roided guys din ( ex Shogun vs randleman/shamrock vs baroni etc ) The fights are too short , 3 5min rounds lang I think the ability to suck up the pain and mental toughness would be more important La lang hehe

MMA Fighters are discplined warriors especially the achievers like Crocop, Vanderlie Silva, Shamrock, Gracie`s, tito Ortiz and my personal favorite Fedor Emilianenko. I have seen almost all his fights in pride and he is the most feared opponent in the ring. He beat Crocop in the championships and Noguiera. I hope I could see someone stood up to him. You could see his fights at youtube....he is the best in his time.

Allegra... Yes Im here in Japan...I think there was a problem with Pride and a broadcast station deals that is why pride is not that popular this time. I hope they resolve the problem.
Yes they do fight at the Saitama super Arena... Seats are expensive though...

UFC 76 results.
Lidell loss to Jardine by split decision -Lidell vs V. Silva on December was spoiled. Griffin chock hold Rua- it was a exciting fight. Jon Fitch defeated Diego Sanchez by split.
Seems like UFC fighters are better than Pride.

I'm sure Shogun can bounce back from the loss. He was pushing for a different date for the fight (next card) because he got married the week prior I think. Dana didn't budge. He was gassed which shows poor conditioning. He didn't even fight at the pace. His conditioning was something Chute Box was known for.
Since Liddel is set back, who does Wandy fight? Still Liddel as an exit fight? How about Forrest? He beat the student, so try the master.
Forrest's improvement is phenomenal! A lot of that is due to training with Extreme Couture. He was Randy's sparring partner for the Gonzaga fight. Forrest is now more methodical. I hope they give him Tito again so they can close that chapter.
Just my thoughts...

Thanx Marvs , didnt know Shogun just got married kaya pala He didnt just gas , he was being overpowered before he was gassed When he was in Griffins guard , he couldnt punch effectively coz griffin was gripping his hands and he couldnt pull them off Tapos he was too slow he couldnt pass the guard and most takedowns were stuffed Kudos to Couture for the gameplan , baka plano talga nila ni Dana White yun hehe Na karma tuloy kay Lidell Wandy fights Griffin or Jardine next I hope Go Brandon Vera!

War Vera!!!!
Looking forward to October 20 for the Vera-Sylvia fight (more than the A. Silva - Franklin main event).
Wandy-Liddel pa rin ako. They were the best during their time, time to show who still has it.
Yup, they studied Shogun well. The wrist control was excellent. Shogun may have taken the fight too lightly (didn't learn from Crocop). He was half as active as he normally is and still gassed. He fights a ten minute first round every time in Pride and still is active until the end. Now he gassed at the 7th minute with a rest period after the fifth. He's got skills but Forrest came in with everything he has and more.
Bring in A. Overeem, Li'l Nog and Arona to shake the division more. hehehe.

guys, no more Randy Couture for the UFC. He announced his retirement last Saturday stating that he has no one else to fight in the heavyweight division coz Fedor Emelianenko didn't join UFC. i hope his retirement is only for the UFC and not MMA, coz he can still have his Fedor match-up and join the MMA org that Fedor signed up with...

I do still hope they get to fight. It won't be as significant tho if they don't do it in the UFC for the rest of the world to see (and for us pinoys too, it won't be on solar). A Fedor vs Randy fight would be hard to promote if they cant use highlight reels from UFC and Pride since Zuffa owns those.
Well that leaves the door wide open in the heavyweight division. Hopefully Vera can get a piece of the pie. Although I do think he'd do better in 205. He's just as tall and heavy as Griffin, he just cuts down to 205 before fights. Unlike Brandon who comes as he is.

I really do hope Vera wins and keep his unbeaten record on Saturday. Also, a win over Sylvia will overshadow his victory over the washed-up Frank Mir and it definitely make his resume look better. There are still key elements that is lacking in Vera's skills. I hope he used his almost a year long absence in the UFC to improve his craft. Can Sylvia handle the TRUTH? Malalaman!!!

I understand his hand was broken in the first round, but that wouldn't affect his ability to dodge sylvia's punches diba. hmpf

i think vera was really intimidated. laki ni sylvia e. plus the fact that sylvia has fought some of the best. sobrang fear factor talaga. vera on the other hand had his first taste of the big leagues. ok lang yun, it'll be a learning experience for him.
rich franklin was clearly outclassed. i thought the first fight was a fluke or was fixed but apparently he just doesn't have what it takes to beat silva. i still rooted for him though and am still a fan.
