Heyheyhey Jimmy my racer idol! It seems you and Ramon have been training real hard for this race...I ve heard you ve both done many training sessions sa ibang trails ... have those tubeless wheelset prepped well k...flats gallore daw...it just might spell the diff why have riders been getting a lot of flats? Kate's recon thread reports state that Ryan aka SDRyan (a non newbie hard rider) had about 4 flats in one recon day + Jason bikedaddy got one flat It must be the various bits along the trail ...maybe some metal strips etc

Hi Arnel - metal strips, nails, etc may be possible culprits but when I rode the course it seemed devoid of such objects. Sharp rocks and stutter bumps possibly but I think the cement curbs may be the ones to blame for pinch flats. There's a short section where you have to hop off a curb and hop back on to the next lot's curb. Could be that. The start also poses a challenge as it's an asphalt road that turns left into the course - a bottleneck onto single/doubletrack. May be less of an issue since this is an endurance race, and not a sprint race. I think Sabak will be putting wooden ramps to make the transitions from asphalt to dirt smoother (and less flat-prone) Hopefully the course will be less bumpy come race day

I havent been able to check the course yet despite my proximity to it. A kid of mine s been sick lately and work has been toxic Hopefully I get to practice pa. Im just aiming to finish the race with minimal aches and mech probs ..hopefully See you, bros!

There's just something about drunk men in tights... Right Raul? Tried the course today. I had to lessen my rear shock's air from 160 to 130. Quite significant a figure but it didn't do didly sh1t when I rode on the tracks again. After about two rounds, both my arms were nearly numb and my earphones kept popping out of my ears- Ganun katagtag! They should do something about the sidewalk-crossing portion. See you all on Saturday!

was able to check out the track last saturday. i biked to work (overtime though) from makati - i was there around 9ish and went back at around 4:30pm. lotsa riders in the morning - tried out the whole track before i left alabang. twas enjoyable - bumpy with my pink hardtail though. It was you we saw last saturday. You are wearing army green hard shell helmet. It was my friend you asked for direction going to sabak. Nice seeing you there ma'am. Oh cool! Sayang, you should've intro'd yourself and friends I was still out of breath from the B2W stint and decided to check out the place then - needed to go as I need to get back to the office and freshen up after looking for sabak ;D Good luck if you and your friends are joining!

Uy Rissa s here pala ! Let s see each other race day k ! I tried the race track today for the first time. It s a well made track courtesy of the SABAK boys. Typical Sabak track (circa The Fort 4X track) ...its very challenging with lotsa bumps and turns Kudos to SABAK for a superb track. At only 2.6kms you ll be hard pressed to find a more challenging XC track anywhere watch out for the turns and dips though if you miss the hard packed lines, you might wash out ..like I did chasing after Unyo The challenging course makes me think of joining the team cat. but I might still do it solo met Dranrev who biked all the way from trece martires (2 hrs away)

i sent my reg for & deposit slip to sabaksports@mydestiny.net. i was wondering whether it's been received since i didn't receive any confirmation. just wanted to confirm especially since the slots may be limited. in addition, is there also a fax number? some of my friends wanted to fax the form but the fax number isn't indicated on it. thanks!

I tried the track on my NRS last Wednesday with Bikedaddy and Kate. It is indeed a fun course and very MATAGTAG! I entirely agree with Bruce, the stutter bumps and that transition from pavement to dirt is quite challenging ... but isn't what it's supposed to be?! It should be fun. And I almost washed out in some of the switchback sections. It's really hard to speed up on that course.
A good Trail/AM ride should do the trick. I think the Trance would be a better weapon of choice on that track.
Anyway, I was really planned on joining but I was just told that we were having our Barkada X'mas Party during the same day so I have to bail out and it is also my kid's lantern parade "ek ek" in the afternoon. Goodluck to you guys and have fun!

Bee, you going to be in town for this? See you there. Ramon, I wish I could, brad. The price of the ticket is so expensive this time of the year. Have fun! While you guys are racing, NVP and HK PMTBers will be riding the Chi Ma Wan Trail in Lantau.

An all mountain rig or aggressive xc and must be a full sus bike very exciting race track! Actually based on last Sunday's recon, a short travel fs xc with the suspension tuned for stutter bumps would be the optimal ride. Lower air pressures, faster rebounds, less compression damping should smooth things out even with only 3-4" of travel. No big hits on this course to favor an AM, though it would certainly be more comfy

I checked the tracks early this morning. Yup, the track has lots of ruts & bumps (it sent my water canteen flying twice), soft loose soil which will translate into choco mud should it rain or even dew in the night. Several sharp & stiff U-Turns. Can't do high-speed runs here. Using clipless system has no clear advantage. The track is SS friendly.

Just for kicks, I'll finish the minimum # of laps in a rigid SS rig. Hehehe titusxSir, will there be portalets around during the race? I guess that would be a primary constraint to me, cause LBM has hit me for the past few days until now, & I'll definitely be looking for one every few hours. TIA An all mountain rig or aggressive xc and must be a full sus bike very exciting race track!
