Congrats to Dan for winning the race and taking home the 3k grand prize, and to all the other winners, finishers, and participants. Best organized race I've been to so far, kudos to our friends from Sabak who are really helping grow the sport with events like these.
I stand corrected, an AM bike was the best for the course, fortunately I brought mine. I switched 10 laps in, only too glad to swap weight for plushness after getting beat up on my fs xc. I can only imagine what the 2nd placer who did 60 laps on a RIGID felt like...
Except for the washboard sections, nice course. In the beginning, it just doesn't flow. Then after about 15 laps, you find the smooth spots that allow you to coast and the berms that allow you to carry some speed through turns and downhills. Hopefully if everyone rides it enough (yes, course is open to the public afaik) it'll smoothen and berm in the right places, and we'll have a kick ass race course the next time around.

Sabak, Nice race you organized from start ( a little bit late ) to the end with fire works. The Track was excellent, its between XC and AM course, till now my shoulder aches due to the jack hammer like portion of the track. It's good that we have a dry race but with enough heat to drain us out. Please post the official complete results per category, we are getting bits and pieces of info from the thread. Better if you could have group also on age category FOR THE SOLO, anyway we gave the data in the registration form. Another request is " HOPING THE TRACK WILL STILL BE OPEN EVEN AFTER THIS 12 HR RACE. " It is a nice short track while my family is in the Mall I can bike for everal laps to sweat on weekend. LOOKING FORWARD FOR THE NEXT RACE IN '08. thanks Rey, its was great pacing with you brad you are one strong rider ...see you at that 12hr track soon Let s bring BongJ and Manny to the track when they get here...invite your fellow IMI halimaws specially Jawy grabe si Jawy ! total dedication! snagged 4rth place sa tough tough men's title cat. ~Arnel

Congrats to Sabak for a great race!! Congrats to all the winners!! I saw qt-kat pedaling steadily throughout the race and am totally wowed by her! Galing! Thanks to Tyrone (barelylegal) and Marty for lending me their pumps in the middle of the trail so I could finish my lap. All in all, a very humbling, but thoroughly enjoyable experience!
The one thing that struck me was the cameraderie of the racers. Whenever someone needed help in the track, people would constantly stopping and asking "are you ok?" Even people you don't know. Somehow, I can't seem to picture that happening in a roadie event (no offense to the roadies). The atmosphere was very cordial and friendly, thus making the experience so much nicer.

Omel, Sayang di ko nasabi sayo na sumali pala ako.Sana nagkita pa tayo. The only time I remembered na dapat sinabihan kita is when I saw your BMB team wreaking havoc to the course. Your guys didn't look like they weren't prepared. ;D. Your team was really awesome. I joined as a solo rider together w my brad-in-law. I just barely made the required 25 laps. I left around 6pm. Olats nga eh, wasn't able to do the night ride, I preferred it sana. but alam mo na, family comes first. d@mn that "click" movie. ;D. Nakabuo ka n ulit ng bike mo?
Sir Norman, meron ba tayong cert for the finishers? Also pics naman from your official photographers. Thanks again for the great course and race.

Question: which was tougher for you: the 24hr race or this 12hr race...track-wise distance, terrain and all ? my busted back answered it for me na but I wanna know your take on it, dude

This one is the sh!t that kills... My palms and back hurt. These pains are somewhat new to me- maybe that's why this race seems harder. BTW, did anyone see Dandan's handle grips? He wrapped it with wet towels! No dice though...

Kate, from a stroke a year ago!!! Wow!!!! now I'm really impressed! You must tell me the concoction you had in your hydration pack... It really kept you going. hehehe... Congratulations again! its not the concoction!, its the husband! ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D @ramon pete's partly right. ;D But mostly it's the happy faces of my 4 kids that gave me the extra boost. It would bring them so much joy and pride if they see that I've won something. @ka Verong thanks, too bad you got disqualified. There's always a next time. @rissa You should've joined too so we can show more girl power. ;D Thanks. jobyoreta gee thanks for the compliment. jp thanks neighbor. I know you can do it too. See you on the next race.

Congrats to Sabak for a very well organized race! Kudos to all of you! We all know that all the hard work, sleepless nights, endless phone conversations to make sure all will be fine, all out have paid off! Best Race ever! Again, Congrats to SABAK! The race was pure joy!, meeting the bikers from PinoyMTBiker and other groups, you will see that the whole biking community is happy. The race track is superb, specially it is very near our place and as per SABAK, this will be maintained and will actually be converted into a bike park by Filinvest! I only did 25 laps, but honestly I'm very satisfied with my performance as my only goal is to complete it and no more and no less, I was able to complete it! What we are very proud of is with RV, my wife's pamangkin. He totalled of 38 laps! As number 1 is Dandan at 63 laps, then number 9 and 10 is tied at 42, so RV is just 4 laps behind the 9th/10th. RV stopped at 28 laps around 5:30, way over me at that time, we did not know that he have a chance at top 10, so we asked him to take a rest, so he rest for 1 1/2 hours! and he want to continue, and told us he will just close it to 30 laps, but surprisingly, he kept going and going, and at very young age of 17, using a 32 lbs hard tail bike on this all mountain race trail, going at 38laps is just superb, iba talaga pag bata! Congrats to all who participated and winners of this race! Regards, Charles

Angat lang ako ng sariling saddle... To our gang at Yellow Cab-Cycling Zone: Jingo - CHAMP!!! CHAMP!!! CHAMP!!! Tapos na tsismis ;D ;D ;D Jun & Jing - your the strongest biking couple talaga! Pat - MTB Endurance Queen ko yan, what's your medal haul this year nga? And of course, my teammates: Andy - ridden off course due to a racing incident, tacoed his front wheel, bleeding, beaten black & blue, walked 2 kms to the repair zone, penalized 1 lap after rejoining, hurting his ass, arm & face all the way Kept his NEW helmet intact ;D ;D ;D Did i say he was gutsy? Ramon - rode a blistering 9:10 lap in the dark of night to set Andy up. Whew! He threw reason and caution to the wind to come in with less than 20 seconds before the horn blew at 10PM and allow Andy to ride our last lap and snag 3rd place. Ramon, STUD ka talaga! ;D ;D ;D Lastly, thanks and congratulations to SABAK for your most successful race to date! It just keeps getting better and better, Guys. Looking forward to your MTB series next year Season's Greetings to all ;D

As for munti vs. filinvest, put it this way: in the 24 hour, it was my lower body that hurt. In the 12 hour, it was the upper body, especially my forearms. Thats saying a lot considering I enjoy rough terrain and was using a 6 inch fork!
