It was really a great, fun-filled, and of course, tiring experience. Many thanks to my team! Actually, my major problem was on how am I going to do away with pedaling in total darkness, good thing I was able to overcome that, and to make things better, I enjoyed every single minute of it. All the PinoyMTBiker folks really was a big help, specially those I got to pedal with during the night and dawn. Next year ulit!

FYI, in as much as the PinoyMTBiker participants were all rarin' to go and can't wait for the medal awarding, me and ronald asked thumbie (mountainrunner) that ronald will just be sending an email to him of the PinoyMTBiker participants list (those who were in the PinoyMTBiker tent) and arrange the pick-up of the medals. ronald is coordinating this with thumbie, i think who received our medals?

talking about BMB, i think i saw totoy bibo (or could be someone else) shouting "uhm! uhm! Uhm!" while punching his leg...i think he's on brink of crying and very angry with himself.
i thought to myself...now that's what i call real commitment to the goal.
another salute to the BMB guys!

some of my observations:
it was a bit difficult to locate the venue.no markers or banners pointing to where the place was. folks not familiar down south had a hard time locating the place i think.
parking was a bit of a mess.
on-site registration was a bit of a failure.they shouldnt have announced that there was one then just because of lack of numbers they wont allow any more participants to join, muntik na masayang punta nung iba.
overall security was a bit compromised both on the race tracks and on the camp sites. there was one portion i noticed that racers were exposed to in-coming traffic when they cut thru the main road going back to the trails.i wonder how that was during the night time.
a lot of locals roaming around passing by tents looking at stuffs lying around, some maybe looking for something that they can grab when no ones looking.i know, its bad to assume things but there's always that possibilty.
its just too bad that the organizers had problems using La Mesa as the venue. i hope next race can be held there again.IMHO there is no better venue for a 24hour race other than the La Mesa forest reserve where you wouldnt need to worry about everyones safety.
yeah,im bitter coz i wasnt able to join, more bitter coz i wasnt able to at least try out the tracks.
but am very happy that i was there even for just a few hours to hang out with PinoyMTBiker folks, joking around, eating everyones food, drinking their cold drinks.... ;D ;D ;D

Sir XCTOFI, in fairness to the locals, I think they were good (on my campsite). Since I don't have a support crew and while doing my laps, I left my tent with my wallet, digital camera, food and other belongings but none was lost. Considering that my tent was even away from the others because I was for the flat surface where I can lay at night

I see it the other way around... we invaded their place, the least we can do is be courteous to them. A cyclo computer nor any bike parts has no value to them... I think they're more interested on food and especially, empty bottles. Cause before race end, they were soliciting for the bottles. But I know you're also right, we owe to be careful with our belongings & can't always discount the possibilities. some of my observations: a lot of locals roaming around passing by tents looking at stuffs lying around, some maybe looking for something that they can grab when no ones looking.i know, its bad to assume things but there's always that possibilty.

Tell you guys, it is the safest place in muntinlupa, the NBP reservation camp. You go out of that wall that is another story. Those living around are mostly inmates before who have done their terms and choose to stay inside that place than live in the outside. My pick up reserve tire is intact after the race. Leave it somewhere example even in guarded parking space there is possibility it would be taken. Too many cars parked over night and I have not read, heard , known any wrong doings.
The locals were very happy to the visitors. . . .
Looking forward to pics and you tube posting . . . no time for the solo riders to do this I don't have support crew for it.

Uhm!" while punching his leg...i think he's on brink of crying and very angry with himself. i thought to myself...now that's what i call real commitment to the goal. another salute to the BMB guys! yup brad that was totoy bibo, he was suffering from leg cramps and an upset stomach (lbm), he was hitting his legs and kept on saying "bakit ngayon pa kayo nagloko??!!". we told him to sleep it off because he was in pain, he slept for about four hours and wasnt happy when he woke up because of the number of laps he had to catch up,he was about 12 laps behind then but finished at 4th anyway. "Tano" on the other hand did not sleep at all and even ate meals while on the go, ( he did 57 laps and bested the solo 2nd placer by 7 laps). the boys trained quite hard to make up for the poor showing BMB did last year (which was ,by the way ,our first attempt at 24 hr racing). BMB team A took 1st in the all male, and BMB team B was poised to take 2nd during the night but lighting problems arose so i think they had to sacrifice some of their batteries so team A can maintain the lead and had to settle for third place. even though they were serious about bagging a podium title they all had fun while doing the race. Jovan, Oca and the rest of the support crew really helped a lot to maintain the high spirits of our racers. races without supporters and spectators just isnt the same ( dont you agree?). wanted to go and greet all of the PinoyMTBiker gang at your tent during the race but was kinda hesitant ( didnt want to appear too forward or anything........actually shy type lang ako.. hehehe). kudos to all of you and hope to see you all again for the next races. (7th EBD and the next DOT 24 hrs.) Live strong and ride on!
