i recommed you guys try this race out even if you don't think you're fit enough. It really is a lot of fun and if you're a mtbiker I think you should do a 24 hour race at least once in your life. For most, it's not really about winning but just finishinin (last time it was 12 laps to a person i think).
If the Homebase is at the same place it's pretty nice since it's a well shaded area. PinoyMTBiker folks were all clustered together actually, we even had a banner provided by Alien Scream. It's 3 to a team anyway so there's a lot of fooling around and having fun waiting for your turn.
And if the route is similar to last year's race then it should be no problem for most of you riders who do a regular half day ride. Last year it was a long gradual climb, followed by flat double-tracks, and some slighly rough downhills. The name of the game is endurance naman, not really speed. (my team last year all dozed off around midnight! hehe)
So c'mon, let's ride! If someone can buy the 24 Hour Solo vid then we can have a film showing din! hehe

If someone can buy the 24 Hour Solo vid then we can have a film showing din! hehe for the folks having second thoughts joining this year's 24hrs race, i'd listen to marc's advise. join if even if you haven't trained that much. join even if you're a chain smoker. join even if you have a mountain high of laundry to wash. ;D heck, tolits is a full time smoker, i dont see myself beating him on uphills. even if gives me a 3 minute headstart, hehehe. ;D so what's the point? you gain experience. back then i was still a weakling (i still am, hehehe.). but now, by joining races, i was able to hone my skills and appreciate the value of training more than ever. its not the bike, its the rider. you'll never value training if you dont join races. you'll just pamper yourself and tell yourself 'i'll be joining next year's race when i'm ready'. what if you never get ready? there's always another year right? ok then. i'll stop here. ;D so why not give it a shot? you have nothing to lose. you know for a fact that you didnt train hard enough. that's a good excuse ;D. doesnt it suck more if you trained so hard and didnt even finish the race? so just make sure you finish the race or achieve the minimum laps required to finish the race and you're good to go. just my 200 pesoses here, hehehe. ;D peace bros.

Who's joining? I'm thinking of joining ... now all I need is to come up with team mates Seniors Race Team? i'm interested too...lets form the teams peeps...we had fun last time now i want to do it more seriously. sounds scary, hehehe. ;D so let's make a roster then. of folks wanting to join. team or solo. so we know at least who's joining. for better coordination. kinda like last year's. we had a lot of fun. especially me who crashed so bad the guy from game plan thought i'd look good with a bloody wound and an interview at the same time. ;D SOLO 1. mountguitars 2. freeman 3. dragunov707 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. . . 1000. TEAM 1. radical1962 2. LaMok 3 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. . . 1000. for the team category, just type in your name and later on, we can team you up with teammates who fits your profile.

24hour race questions: 1. whats the ideal food & drinks to bring? 2. whats the ideal first aid kit to bring? 3. what are the possible parts that will break during the race? 4. if i start the race using SS and then it broke in the middle of race am i allowed to change bike if ever i bring 2bikes? here's what's on my hollow brain: 1. banana, pasta, bread, rice, adobo, chocolate bars, coke (or soda's containing high levels of caffeine), gatorade. you can actually make camp at the venue so that means you can bring camping gear. you can cook meals if you want para warm ang meals mo. so bring at least a tent and a chair. for the stove, you can borrow from me or who ever has one. heck, you can even bring your PS2 if you want, hehehe. ;D 2. iodine, water melon seed powder, dressing for wound aka ladies' panty liner, band aids, alaxan, off lotion (lots of mosquitoes during the evening), personal medication, tegaderm or duoderm, diatabs. that's it for me. 3. anything under the sun could break. in my case, my stem started making noises. i had to swap stems with doc kate (thanks doc). paul broke his RD. fortunately marcs has a spare lying around. owen broke his chain. the usual flats as well. i suggest you bring more than one bike 4. so far, i've noticed they werent paying attention if you're using a different bike or not. in fact, in one of the laps, paul used brusko's NRS. so i guess its safe to say bringing/using 2 different bikes is ok. this race is the most fun event since you can make camp, cook, and manage yourself and mingle with friends at the same time. ;D. no pressure involved. just fun. its up to you how you want to make this even fun or how serious you're going to be. HTH.

If you know how to ride on the trail sun up and sun down, then you can join the race. As mentioned, you'll gain tons of experience. I have been doing 24hr and multiday adventure races but doing this race is really something different. Why? You have no one to ride with or even talk to. You'll go crazy after a few hours. It's very creepy riding in the woods at night time. I crashed twice in the first few hours. I was so worried that I might crash during the night. Fortunately, I didn't because I rode more cautiously. Crashing is a part of cycling one must experience so that we could learn to avoid it and even learn to crash land properly. It's not for everyone but anyone can do it. It's all about doing it no matter how many laps. It's an achievement on its own. You can make it enjoyable and fun because lots of MTB fanatics will be there. This will be like a mini-EB/camp out of sorts. But there will definitely be pain especially in the ass after the race OT: Paul and Jon going solo. Tsk tsk tsk! King, are we still joining the solo cat?

yup, i agree with jon...just join peeps... you can stop whenever you want (just dont expect to win ) its a race at your own pace...your main opponent here is your own self...its fighting the temptation when you see banny and friends drinking beer while you are out riding and spitting blood ;D..fighting the urge to stay longer in the tent when its already your turn to ride...preparing your gears while the guys all around you are snoring. no joke guys its a lot easier than you think...peeps have different reasons for being there...for fun, for competition, for pain etc...depends on what you want..but i'm sure of one thing, you'll gonna get it.
