I guess it's a sign of age creeping in when you start being more conscious of your health. Got into jogging recently to supplement biking lalo na when it's raining. Sarap din yung running. Simple lang. Just lace up and you're off. Tapos you exert a lot more effort coz you're carrying your entire body weight. Iba yung feel -- mukhang na iin-love uli ako ;D ;D ;D Is there also an active running community here in Pinas?

Started running way back 2001 and joining races 2002 starting off with the New Balance 10K Run.. then came Adidas King of the Road, the never ending Milo races, Yakult, DLSU, etc etc.. natigil lang this year when i got into biking but am still running 10K races pag may palaro. ok yan. what's good with running is you compete with yourself. its always a race with your last personal record / previous race record. active running community? not sure. try yahoo groups.. now i mix running with biking via adventure races.

Ran/jog/walk yesterday from work going home. Did about 5 out of 8 kms. Sumakay na ako ng Jeep dun sa remaining 3 Kms ;D Sarap! Sana it can improve my biking/climbing skills ( as well as general health). Kaso nga lang the problem is when I pass by major roads, mejo mausok kaya I walk na lang. Sayang yung bridge, pataas pa naman sana . Tipid pa! Instead of going to Ultra and pay 24 pesos I spent 4 pesos for water.. heh heh heh You should try doing it

Running is really the best cardio and will put anybody in shape quickly. I've been running on and off the past several years including some 5-10k events. I started it again a couple of times a week to supplement my regular workout. I just dropped around 5lbs. I hope I can find more time to do it though. Especially finding time to sleep is already a struggle for me.
best wishes to those who want to get into running. You won't regret it.

hmm. this looks nice. running. any tips from ye running gurus out there? Yuppp... 1) Get a decent pair (dont use Tennis Shoes, Basketball shoes etc) 2) start slow (jog, dont run). Avoid sprints during your 1st few sessions (you can get injured). 3) dont worry about the distance (gradual increase as your knees get stronger) 4) cool down after each run.. 5) Stretch out after each run. Its fun, economical and very healthy Do it right and you will be back for more. -cheers

I have a question on this.
Everytime I run, my shins hurt. Haven't really tried any real running shoes, mostly it's when I play basketball. Kahit sa start pa lang ng game I can feel the impact on my shins.
I was wondering if this is genetic at ala na talaga ako pag-asa maging runner (and hence maging award winning triathlete mwahahaha as if) or the proper shoes can solve this? am thinking i'm too heavy and my frame is too small to handle the impact of running
anybody doing trail running?

When you run try raising your heels more paghakbang mo Punta ka sa Chirunning , nawala lahat ng injuries ko dun I was also able to run kahit may sprain ang ankles Didnt even know may style pala ng pagatkbo , I thought it was intinctive Next beginners tri, sali ka dito hehe

actually i already heard about it around 2 years ago that running/jogging can cause a possible damage to hearing...but few days ago i remember my former boardmate and a jogging partner...he's an avid jogger...he could actually startle me sometimes by talking too loud...i never asked him about it but now it occured to me that maybe he's got some sort of hearing problem.
is there any truth to it?

um.. how the hell could you relate jogging to hearing loss? parang by any stretch of the imagination... physiologically speaking... running per se vs. hearing per se... the mp3 during the runs makes sense though

was a runner before, track and field sprinter in high school. but had a sport injury that damaged my right knee. biking doesn't stress my knees, but my recent crash banged my right knee on the fork lock-out...ouch!!

from the karerista egroup:
tutal mukang holiday ng may 1(monday), you might want spending the weekend sa baguio and join..
Run for Trails 2006 kicks off at UP Baguio on Sunday, April 30
The UP Baguio Mountaineers presents the third Annual Run for Trails, on Sunday, April 30 at 6 a.m. The 12 kilometer trail run starts at the green campus of the University of the Philippines Baguio, goes through Camp John Hay's pristine trails including the Eco-trail, Shalan ti Kabadjo and Yellow Trail and finishes back at UP Baguio.

hi everyone,
newbie po sa grupo.makasabat lang po ng konti.
i started running when i quit smoking last 2001, kasi the first time i quit and kept a sedentary lifestyle i gained almost 15 lbs. at parang napakahirap kumilos. so i promised myself na sa pangalawang pag quit ko, i'll do some physical activities. until now i'm still into running mga 20kms or less a week. just a month and a half ago i took up cycling and my first cycling experience was the tour of the firefiles. when you are into running and take cycling parang walang problema sa hangin specially with our weekend timberland climbs (tatlong weekend na yata) that is really energy-sapping. even if i dismount my bike 3 times (during the climb) before reaching timberland gate sa may tindahan, palagay ko the regular running helps a lot in terms of endurance sa climbing.
51 na ko ngayon and i hope to still run and bike as long as my body permits.
thats my 2 cents.
