Edwin, smokers is hard to quite because the mind is looking for the sensation of the bad C... this is the factors your discussing about... If you want to quit smoking... just do mind setting that you will stop smoking... start from one day, first one week...then you will notice it's already a completed month or a year... So avoid all the factors you listed above.... No one can help you except yourself....

Hi Sirs I completely agree with Sir Bong, its all mind set, actually when I lit my last cigarette, I was with a big group of smokers drinking and smoking had like 10 bottles of light and almost 2 packs of assorted Cigs, then after that day, I just said to myself sh*t i better stop!!! although I slowed down a bit already, its just that whenever I drink I will smoke its like husband and wife partners for life. But lm proud to say after that dreadful day I dont smoke anymore, and to further test myself, Id still hang out with colleagues who smoke, whenever they take yosi breaks, i'd join them but only to have coffee.
Before, Id smoke after waking, after eating breakfast, 1st coffee break at least 2 sticks minimum, if the topic is interesting during breaks I can have at least 5 in a row (d@mn!) then after lunch, Pm break, after dinner and at least 3 more before sleeping. That doesnt include whenever I take a dump or when I go out to drink.
Imagine how can somebody like myself stop smoking? Even my wife gave up on me she even bought me an expensive lighter as a sign that she surrenders, hehe. But I stopped, by just simply telling myself I need to stop, Im just so freaking abusing myself. Now, I still drink a little, but I don't smoke anymore, and I lost the appettite to smoke already, its mind set, if you really want to quit, hang out with the usual people, take the same coffee breaks, try doing it, but try doing it without lighting a Cig, minimizing the number of cigarettes is the same as smoking 1 pack, so if you decide to stop, don't do it slowly, do it instantly, one snap, just throw it away, I know I make it sound easy but, hell no I had a hard time, all the coughing and drooling and sh*t, but I managed to control it. Im not saying its easy but its always worth a try, after all nobody is going to benefit from that except ourselves, I'll include all of you bros and sis who are trying to quit in my prayers, to have the will to quit, we have the means and the way to quit, its just the will that will make us quit! Good Luck Smokers from and Ex-smoker!:-)

To date: 1 stick after 4 days. Yesterday, 1/2 stick when i was discarding all remnants of cigarettes at home. I saw half a stick so i lit it up. Didn't inhale too deeply though. Got dizzy and then ditched it. three puffs max. Today, 1/2 stick again, 3 puffs (man, ang sarap!!!), got dizzy, bad after-taste, ditched it. Keep you posted.

If there is a will, there is a way. I have stopped smoking for about a month now. Just kill it "cold turkey". when I tried to do it slowly, there's always an excuse to light up one more. It was a perfect test when I did it because I still went to the smoking area to talk with smokers and since it was Christmas season, daming party and drinks.
try to understand why you smoke and avoid it. If it is coffee, then get a substiture for your coffee. For me it is work-related stress. I just try to relax by surfing the net hehehe

sir ed>we've met a couple of times i personally know your brother, he attends bible studies at our place.. i used to smoke myself.. and then i ran into this verse... 1 Corinthians 6:19 Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;..... one evening i prayed and was sorry for what i have been doing to my body...then from that moment on and it seems my body rejected and despised the taste of nicotine.. even the smell.. from a one pack a day smoker to zero pack for 5-6 years now... i never looked back since... sorry guys.. did not intend to turn this into some religious thingy.. but a mere story of mine..

So avoid all the factors you listed above.... No one can help you except yourself.... I agree with Sir Bong. I tried quiting smoking many times before already because we all know that it's bad for us. But everytime you fall into the bad habits and start smoking again. For me it was smoking and drinking. For me, it was easy not to smoke after eating or while crapping, but the drinking always got me back into smoking. Last Jan 1, 2007, I told myself that this was it, I'm really gonna quit. So I quit cold turkey, plus I DID NOT go out drinking for a month. I knew if I did I'd smoke again. So now, more than a year later, I'm still smoke free after 8 years of very heavy smoking. What I'm trying to say is that most smokers don't just smoke eh, they associate it with other things. Find out that that is and try to avoid it, at least for the 1st few weeks. It'll be easier to quit. P.S. I read somewhere quiting before the age of 35 will give you back most of the life expectancy you lost.

It's now over a month and a week without smoke. Has anyone seen a TV ad saying there's now a medicine to help you stop smoking? Just got a glimpse of it and can't say much about it.
