There are definitely slicks and semi slicks in 26 inch size. If you ride purely on road, maybe you can get a slick tire. However, I suggest you get a semi slick, since our roads are not really that smooth anyway. I prefer a semi slick with 1.85 to 2.0 width. A larger width tire will be more comfortable due to its larger air volume. A 2.0 tire will feel like it has one inch of suspension compared to a 1.75 for example. There are lots of choices out there. Just go to cartimar or quiapo where the cheapest deals are.

i am using continental vertical pro 2.3". i got it as part of a wheelset 2ndhand sale deal. i am so lucky to have it because it is very good.
rolling resistance is very minimal. tire noise is manageable. grip is very good on the road as well as trail. i have not tried it on muddy condition yet, as i don't usually ride on mud. it is a 2.3, but looks more like a 2-2.1 tire. it is light, and foldable pa. swerte talaga.
but i don't get to see a lot of that tire around.

try using kenda kinetiks..good grip and also looks good...another choice is nevegals a bit expensive but good overall performance..stick to 2.1 or 1.95 for xc use...much lighter to pedal uphills.

okay ba Conti VERTICAL PRO? I'm using one, good for hardpack trail but so-so in cornering. If you plan to use tubeless, use less pressure for more grip (then it gets better). Not so good on wet and muddy trails especially on wet roots and rocks, again use less pressure to compensate. Better yet, use the Gravity PRO (UST or Non-UST).

just bought a pair of 1.85 TIOGA Factory XC Slick tires... they're actually semi-slick coz they have tall knobs at the sides... quite wide for size 1.85, more of like 2.0's... this maybe because of the side knobs again... not that much volume (i am comparing it to specialized tires)
a bit on the heavy side since it's not folding and it uses heavy and hard compound.. i haven't weighed it though...
good road traction, excellent grip on corners due to the side knobs... especially when inflated at high pressure...
but not enough on braking... yet to be tested on off-road conditions...

I liked the ride quality of the Karma but had problems with durability. The sidewalls are really thin and they do tear. Probably not an issue if you don't ride on rocks, but if you do, watch out.
I've settled on a combination of Kenda Nevegal Stik-E 2.1 on the back and Nokian Gazzaloddi Core 2.1 on the front. The Nevegal grabs well and the more aggressive tread pattern on the Nokians helps in cornering on technical single track and slick DH stuff. There's more weight and rolling resistance than on a pure XC 1.95 tire, but the added grip and traction really help on technical trails, without going all the way to a 2.3 or bigger.
May not be appropriate for everybody's riding conditions, but for the Sagada mix of rough-surface roads and single track, climbing and descending, it works pretty well. They aren't cheap tires, but the Nokians in particular are extremely durable, and they do the job.
