Just bought a suspension seatpost for my hardtrail and I am so eager to try it this weekend. It is a Cane Creek Thudbuster. Anybody tried this seatposts already? Any feedbacks from you guys? Did anybody had problems with this seatpost? blue, I'm planning on getting one too for my hardtail, where did you bought yours? LT or ST? and how much?

BLUE, GAVINCHIE has one too installed on his hardtail. I think he had his for less than a year already and he's happy with it. I was able to ride his bike and it felt like a FS bike.

:DTrue, Happy with it for 4yrs, just like riding on softail with 3" of stiction free travel. A perfect upgrade for your efficient HT. It used to be standard seatpost of complete Airborne Ti HTs. Bought it at around $150 in the U.S. way back 2000, now it's down to around $130. Saw one ('02) in Velo. Cane creek came out with a "smarter" model (lock allen screw relocated for easy saddle mount, but the elastomer tunable sets (black/blue/white) remain the same (black=heavy rider, white=light or combination). Travel directly opposes rear wheel bounce, but of course for it to work, you have to keep you butt on the saddle.

Blue,
Correct ko lang si Trixxter, I had mine for almost two years na. Bought it for 4500k at Veloworks in Kamuning--sister company of Velocity.
How happy am I? Pre, this baby's an excellent excuse for not shifting to full suspension. Imagine, a 3.9'' theoretical travel for a suspension seatpost. It's unheard of.
Pre, just ride this weekend and you'll see what I mean. My opinion can be an understatement of what this can do for you. Actions speak louder.
Goodluck and kita tayo sa trails.

black=heavy rider, white=light or combination Hi, Does it come with both elastomers, or do you have to pick just one?

Woofers,
Pre, kasama lahat yun sa package--a pair of black, blue and gray.
Planning to get one? It's an excellent buy.

Warlock,
I haven't seen any silver versions. What I know is, the post portion is the only part that comes in silver and the parallelogram part is standard anodized black. Dude, what do you mean by 2G, 3G, LT and ST?

Dude, what do you mean by 2G, 3G, LT and ST? brad, 2G means 2nd Generation, so 3G is the 3rd, they have corrected a lot of flaws on the 2G so they come up with 3G which I guess was released early last year (not sure though) as for ST & LT, I guess they stand for Short Travel & Long Travel see repective Photo below.

Warlock,
Thanks pre.
What other flaws do you know? The only thing I know is the rail clamp fracture incident caused by aggressive riders. I got this from the CaneCreek people themselves thus the recall of the TB 2 years ago.

I have the LT version (right picture). Warlock, thanks man for the quick lesson ;D
Woof> The ThudB comes with 3 pairs of elastomers (Black,Blue,White). For my weight, the blue pair fits my ride.
Guys> The ThudB suspension will make you ride longer XC, but it not for aggresive riding, otherwise, it can "break" just like an NRS when used for dirt jumping ;D

mga repapis
magkano ba ngayon iyan kung iiskor ako?
you mean it comes with three elastomer pag binili nyo?
Any sign of worn out sa elastomer after years or months of abuse?
Madali bang makabili ng elastomer?
Nga pala nakapagtanong ako niyan just last month at velocity cartimar P5500 daw
Mag kano ba US iyan ? or ibang bansa?

MaxB,
Pre, Velo's selling it for 4800K not the price you mentioned.
Regarding the elastomers, I had mine close to two years na and no signs of wear. Di ba you have the RS Judy TT fork 2003? The componentry of that is both coil and elastomer. If that fork is serving you well without any hassles of breaking down, then that answers your question how durable the elastomers are.
Saan mo mabibili? Sadly, no LBS can help you with that. I've tried. What you can do is, you can ask the owner of Bike room and ask if they can order for you. Medyo suplada lang si Mrs. Lim, the owner, but lucky you kung puwede.
Kapag ayaw, ebay. If you can't wait, try canecreek.com as a last resort. I think they can refer you how and where to purchase a pair.
Ang presyo niyan sa US for the 2004 model, tama si oilman, from $150 down to around $130. That's for the 3G na. For the 2G, Pricepoint.com's offering it for $89.99.
Bottomline, it will be money well spent if you decide to get either one.
Goodluck!

Gavinchie, sorry for the late reply brad, went off climbing this weekend kasi hehe (letseng bagyo) anyway regarding the flaws of the earlier model, bushing problems were the common complains before. I'm not sure how durable the linkage now of the 3G models. Max, maybe you can try ordering to where I got most of my stuff, he can mail the elastomer I guess through USPS envelop Link, he sells the 3G for $90 by the way, and you can choose whatever shipping you want...sa pricepoint & Jenson nde. Sa pricepoint pala nde nagdedeliver sa Pinas.

;D ako nag start sa topic ng Thudbuster but ngayon lang ako nakabalik ;D
Nakabili na ako and it is really awesome... all i had to do is change the elastomers for my weight and i have nothing to say... Even if i hang my feet and run a bump, it like nothing... For me it's the best upgrade for a hardtail... Nice thing about the deal, I bought it for $55 cheaper... and its the 2004 3G ... Mga hard trailers bili na kayo coz' it is really worth it

Max, you can buy it now for $80-105 and it comes with 6 elastomers 2 black, 2 blue, 2 grey para ma combine mo for your weight. Worn out elastomers is normal but it takes time to wear though... The only problem daw and i read it somewhere, if the elastomers are exposed to extreme cold, it stiffens and cracks... price of the elastomer $5-6 a pair... I bought mine for $80 3G LT... AWESOME!!!

just for FYI
Cane Creek Cycling Components has recalled about 7,800 suspension seatposts. If you think you have an affected post stop using it immediately! The seatpost's cradle, which attaches to the seat, can break, posing the risk of falls and serious injury. The recalled Thudbuster Suspension Seatposts are black and silver and have a range of serial numbers between 10894 and 18710. The serial number can be found inside the seatpost tube near the bottom. The words, "Cane Creek" and "Thudbuster" are also printed on the seatpost. The seatposts were made in the U.S. and sold between November 2000 and June 2002.

I just bought mine last week at Velo City in Cartimar. P4,500.
Was able to try it in Muntinlupa last Saturday and my friend rode with it in Sta.Rosa last Sunday. Both of us liked its performance.
It's a big improvement on the Hard tail considering I was already using a control tech suspension seatpost before.
I find their recommendation on the catalog that came with the product as too soft though. I'm 163-165 lbs. 175 pounds with backpack and the blue on blue combo( which they rated at 165 to 195lbs) seems to be too soft for me. There was a big improvement when I switch to black and blue.

max,
actually it was sent by my cousin who's a mtb'er in the states (i told him about this board) as a gift.
suave, i guess if you use the black/black elastomer setting you wont have a problem. it will ride a bit stiff but you won't break it i'm sure (it should hold over 250lbs brad) ;D

max, the package comes with an instruction manual and 4 other elastomers (of which you mix and match to configure your weight). and if you're lucky may lizard skin na crudbuster (cover for the thuddy). i wasn't so lucky so namomroblema na ako kung paano ko lalabanan ang putik dito... oh well...

CANE CREEK THUDBUSTER SEATPOST Item #: SE707B00 FROM JENSON USA
Black, 26.8mm, 380mm Length Black, 27.2mm, 380mm Length Black, 30.9mm, 380mm Length Our Price: Stock Status: $89 In Stock
Size/Color Stock Status Our Price Black, 26.8mm, 380mm Length In Stock $89 Black, 27.2mm, 380mm Length Expected on Sep. 23 $89 Black, 30.9mm, 380mm Length In Stock $89
The Thudbuster provides 3.9 inches of plush travel and continually absorbs bumps big and small. The parallel-link design enables the post to respond to all bumps. Unlike telescoping suspension seatposts, there is no initial stiction to overcome - the suspension mechanism works in the direct path of the natural travel of the rear wheel when the bike encounters a bump. The Thudbuster does not suffer from any wasteful pedal-activated bob or play. And because its travel is not strictly in the vertical plane, it does not compromise the all-important saddle-height setting as you ride. By bringing excellent rear suspension to hardtails, the Thudbuster improves the way you ride. You can spin seated through rough rocky terrain, even on climbs. You can put some more air into the rear tire.
Weight: 490 grams (varies with diameter)
Material: Extruded 6061 T-6 Aluminum Suspension links bonded to a 2014-T6 custom drawn tube Length: 380mm
Feature: 3.9 inches of travel with a patented parallel-Link design
