good thing they dont have evidence of my stupidity.....hehehhe 3X flat tire evidence not required brad, hehehe. ;D just kidding. awesome marin frame brad. im just amazed at how the early VPP looks like. looks fairly simple but opened up a big can of worms, hehehe. to nvp, again happy bday. nobody has ever drawn together such a big biking crowd like this. truly awesome. and the bike addict award goes to, none other than Raul aka 'SOLO' biked all the way from manila to tagaytay with a bleeding wound in stitches covered by gauze and tapes. more power brad! ;D you serve as an inspiration. can anybody post pics of his wound?

I congratulate NVP and the PMTBer's for such a successful get-together. Because of my dial-up, only 10 pics actually loaded. The other pics just load 1/4 of the way and the loading stops. I waited more than half an hour with no progress. Kakabitin (I want to hang myself)! I do see a nice pic of 3 young guys. The most good-looking one is in the middle with a nametag on his shirt that sez "Fafarock"... Nakaka-in-love! ...este... nakaka-inspire! I keep thinking... if I joined the ride, everybody will probably be offering me a bungee cord to tie to their bikes and pull me all the way! I envy you guys for conquering the challenge. My heart palpitates just thinking about such a bikeathon. My daily ride-commute is a quick 10 minute ride. How long did the NVP birthday ride take? Mileage? Anybody who experienced pain, numbness, fainting, or psychothic side effects during and after the ride? Anybody cares to tell a short story? I'm all eyes! I want to psychologically prepare myself for any ordeal! And the award-winning guy... Soloflight ba yun? I want to hear his story. What happened? Finished the bikeathon injured! Gee! Galing Grabe (Great Scott)! Deserves to be in the Hall of PinoyMTBiker Fame. Idol material. Guys, I promise myself to strengthen up and someday I will join you! I'll probably need to learn how to bike backwards too, so that I can take photos of everybody along the way! ;D I'm also requesting the future posters of pics to please identify the good-looking faces in the pics! And suggestion... pls resize your pics to 4" by 6" at 80dpi. This should make the loading faster and DU (dial-up) users like me will appreciate the effort. Hirap mabitin no? (it's hurts to get hanged you know?) Salamat po! (Tenks very much, Black belters!)

As to the count of bikers who went.... my take is: about 120 bikers registered for the Chowking treat (from NVP) + about 20 bikers who were busog or shy (non-PinoyMTBiker. they didnt think that they were included) ...so total is about 140 bikers... and that s a conservative estimate Note: some bikers didnt proceed to climb sta Rosa to Silang since the ride from QC took its toll on them na...wise move yup yup The pace of the first 2 waves was fast..lotsa fresh from-Paseo riders in those groups

I had been trying to hold my gun for sometime, kasi, i'm thinking that to tell a single faceted story may not give justice to a ride of this magnitude that, with the obvious number of riders, was seen from a hundreds of different perpectives, but what the heck.....let me just share my own story of the NVP bday ride of Sat., Jan. 06, 2007. A ride that will go down in the PinoyMTBiker history book........ Part I - The Journey to Sta Rosa I met my buddy/neighbor fafarock at commonwealth market @around 5am that day and after the usual hi and hello started our ride to Paseo Sta Rosa in his trusty tanke. i texted noel to ask him if the j. vargas posse' were doing okay and after a while he texted back that 60+ riders started at j. vargas and they were now at SM bicutan.....time check 0515, informed fafarock about the text and agreed that everything was doing A-Okay. A little over 0600 and almost near sat rosa exit, fafarock decided on filling the tanke's tank as well as having some "wake-em-up" brewed coffee at the starbucks......surprise!!! surprise!!!! ghorio was also there at starbucks. after some stories and @0615 we decided to head for sta rosa. We arrived at paseo @0630 and there waiting were pete, radical, shuzz, franz, JAP and some other early birds. texted noel that we were at paseo and have some 15+ riders already, noel texted back that we go ahead with the breakfast (as planned) and their ETA was 0745. checked with chowking and was informed that food will be served starting 0715. a little past 0640 PinoyMTBiker peepz were starting to trickle in.....jibber and the red-shirted sta rosa mtb peepz, sir perio, some other sta. rosa PinoyMTBiker, antipolo peepz, poseur and some others whose names i cannot recall anymore some 20+ peepz started the chowking breakfast of longsilog downed with either piping hot brewed coffee or pineapple juice and so the NVP bday event had just started. after a couple of minutes riders from different points of origins were starting to trcikle in until wave by wave the julia vargas posse' started to come-in and paseo sta rosa was litellary littered with mtb's and bikers of all shapes, sizes and colors. when everybody finally came-in for the chowking breakfast, the 100+ seat capacity restaurant was practically filled to the rafters with perspiring yet smiling PinoyMTBiker peepz that serenaded noel with his well-earned birthday song.......what a sight to behold

Part II - The Ride to Lugawan T'was almost 0800 when the Bday breakfast treat was finished and everybody were all starting to gear-up. Final ride plan were already presented by Sir Perio and discussed with the group of Jibber, Shuzz, Sta Rosa PinoyMTBiker Peepz and the Red-Shirted Sta Rosa MTB's. A little before 0830 and everybody were almost all geared-up and raring to hit the Sta Rosa trails, till finally the first wave of riders came out of Paseo led by our trusty trailmaster Sir Perio, wave by wave the group came out with each wave the red-shirted sta rosa boys embedded themselves to ensure that the visitors enjoyed their trail. The SC peepz had to wait for the group of Chito, Drew, et al who came in late trying to horde some newbie who rode with their group. Finally the last wave of riders (us) came out of Paseo to hit the trails of sta rosa, amidst clear sunny skies, the cool morning breeze and high spirits.......this ride has the ingredients of a real BLAST . We were guided by Jibber and the sta rosa peepz first to the daunted apat-na-palapag where everybody pedalled-up huffing and puffing but smiling after each and every stop. The last wave had Jon's "alalays" and of course jon and paul north. one thing funny though that we found out after the first palapag was that one of jon's alalays was tackiling the palapag in her mid-ring and high speed rear gears, i think it was soloflight or jibber who noticed it, kaya pala she was almost swearing while pedalling up the palapags. finally after making a "todo-todo" gearing the uphill climb became a little bit manageable. The climb up the apat na palapag and cardiac was a bit hard but uneventful. At the end of the climb, i received a call from the cavite peepz that they had just arrived at sta rosa and will try to find a way to catch up with the final wave of riders. After the climb we snaked thru some fireroads and single tracks, sometime exiting thru paved roads until we reached bukohan (somebody correct me if i maybe describing things here erroneusly hehehe) at the bukohan we managed to catch us with some of the first wave of riders, still lots of buko but the store has ran out of gatorade.....hehehe. fresh buko juice after the apat na palapag and cardiac..........PRICELESS After re-grouping, the final wave were all set to go for that push going to the lugawan..... single tracks and fireroads in the middle of coffee beans plantation, cool breeze, short uphill bursts.......oi be careful of the ruts....hehehe, until we finally exited the crossroad.....right we take the mango trail and left we take a detour.......after some thoughts and the consideration that the tail group is already coming in late, jibber decided to take the detour. finally at the entrance to another trail, some of the riders from the first wave caught us..."ang lalakas niyo ah, di ba huli kayong umalis"....not knowing that we did away with the mango trail . trail again......never ending fireroads, single tracks, short uphills amidst coffee plantations (is this the coffee trail?) until we came out to a paved barangay road. upon reaching a small sari-sari store....... the small group composed of atty mike (reign) chito, nhan, solo, doc arnel, drew, noel, greywall, rustynails and some others decided to cool down with ice-cold coke and royal........sarap, of course and some (yet to be posted) photo-ops. i offered the group with a coupla samar specialty good for carboloading.....pinyato (puffed rice, pinipig and peanut). during the reststop we met mojiks going down with the sabak riders. after the re-group some 25-35 riders went on for the final push to the lugawan....rolling hills on barangay roads, fireroads and finally we reached the lugawan. there cooling their heels and partaking with their reward of lugaw with boiled egg, lomi, cold softdrinks were the main group that started as the first wave from paseo.....some peepz i recognized: tofi, bruce, mat, mrsm, fafarock, alphabolt, pazigrider, whoopi and gma pal, riders from san pedro, tabs, driver, owen, edong, cooltomac, franz, lui-g, 34cog, kevin, JAP, et al. ubos na ang lugaw and lomi......have to make do with hotcake (or pancake, if you wish). check-up: soloflight's wound-already bleeding, may not make it back by pedal to manila. To be continued with Part III - The Ride Back to Paseo de Sta Rosa
