Part III - The Ride Back to Paseo de Sta. Rosa After emptying the lugaw, lomi, boiled eggs and whatever food we can get hold on at the lugawan, it was time to go. A pow-wow was first made on the different routes and groupings that was to be done on the way back to different destinations. Finally, the group was broken into two big main group, the group that was to go up Tagaytay by road and the group that was going back to Paseo by Trail. But not until acknowledging with the a big round of applause the successful trailmastering of sir perio, jibber and the red-shirted sta rosa mtbikers, the final birthday song for noel and a round of applause for kevin on a successful first trail ride and for setting an example to our urban mtb brothers to come out of their comfort zones and have their rigs smell the trail dirt. after the usual goodbyes and high fives the group was finally off for their ride back. I was with the group trailmastered by sir perio and had noel, gbb, fafarock, matt, michelle, ghorio, milo, losiphile, soloflight, doc arnel, two young boys from sta rosa (one was on SS wow) and 3-4 PinoyMTBiker riders (whose names escaped my memory) as part of the posse' and sweeped by a sta. rosa rider named lito. Luck was on my side, for sir perio brought the posse' to another trail instead of backtracking the previous trail, we entered a lot cool fireroads and beautiful single tracks amidst coffee and pineapple plantations with beautiful verdant sceneries to really fill the eyes. nearing the end of the single tracks we had some minor semplangs and flat tires. fafarock mentioned something like one portion being bewitched since it was also on the same spot that he also had a semplang before. Finally it was time to bomb the infamous UPAK trail, a very fast and long downhill with some portions littered with loose sands and gravel and a couple of rock outcroppings. generally the UPAK Trail was tame when we hit it, i can almost imagine hitting UPAK trail after a storm or heavy rain, medyo it becomes a bit technical ala-afp downhill siguro. After bombing the UPAK trail, we were signalled that we have already finished the trail, a few more hundred meters and we were back to the paved highway and a few kilometers away from paseo. at that point i noticed my legs starting to become stiff and had to ratrat my way back to paseo lest cramps get me. Finally, Paseo de Sta Rosa........cyclocomp mileage log : 40 kms. of XC riding at its purest Late lunch at chowking, the tagaytay posse of kate, doc jason, TOFI, radical, alphabolt, etc. will catch-up on us. And after that the ride home to Manila. Whatta Ride, thanks PinoyMTBiker, noel, sir perio, jibber, red-shirted sta rosa mtbikers and fafarock. A good ride to start 2007!!!!

Wow! I'm interested me3. I think ...I am interested. Make Arci then as "me4"...to complete the golden ride trio. Teka. teka. "Killer Ride" ba ito? Ahem. ahem. Let me qualify the "Killer Ride" nomenclature first before I sign my John Wayne: a) Canlubang up to Palace is an unforgiving 13 kms uphill fireroad climb. Maybe I can manage to complete provided cramps don't set in first? I heard the scenic view is fantastic! b) Palace down to Talisay is a downhill run that I haven't tried yet and may as well spell my doomsday? c) Talisay up to Tagaytay is another uphill climb part 2. Maybe at this point on I am ready to flag down a jeepney to haul me and my bike up the ridge? Or if I manage to bike up to TAGS again by shere virtue of my senile mind taking over my sr. 60 cents body (trans... insanity)...this will raise me up to the lofty heights of Freeman, MountG, Judex, Dragunov, Tolits, Bruce, Tofi, Bikedaddy, qt kat, GBB and Company. Hay naku. Am I dreaming Peepz? Am I high on 60's psychedelic substances? d) TAGS down to Canlubang! SusMarYoSep. At this point on I have lost the will power to write inasmuch imagine what "Back Home" or "ONDABAG" means. This simply is Cricifixion. In view of above, I will CarboLoad more...Hic ... Hic... and wait for the Order "Hit the Beach Marine!!!" to square me away.

yes fellow "young once", sirs rocky and arci. i guess this is indeed pushing ourselves beyond our limits. but hey, might as well do it now while we still have the legs and the lungs and the will and the persistence to do it. right? anyways, we can always walk if the going gets any tougher. to bikedaddy and the rest who expressed and may express their interest in this ride, you're all welcome. the more the merrier, ika nga!
