the malate jump park is not newbie friendly. sorry. i've been there and the jumps are way-way-way too scary. no table tops (not the trick, the ramp). still, you can meet some guys there who could teach you a thing or two. i like the berm there though. they have skinnies there aswell. be sure to wear gear when you go there.

sir gud pm i'm new in dirt jumping but what interest me most is mountain cross, im not new in cycling, dti na akong xc racer dito sa province competing yearly in our local race..nagtotal overhaul ako ng bike ko now...mejo nawalan na ako ng pagasa kasi sa xc eh.. nway i've tried jumping my bike over small dirt/bumps..and somehow i enjoy it...still i've got to improve my jumping skills and also i still have to uprgrade some of my bikeparts...for instance is my fork which is new its a splice 70-100mm rtwd its only for trail purpose secondly is my crankset which is an lx m572 tripple...kaya lang mejo malaking pera pa magagastos dun in case...so i have to device a cheaper setup for the meantime until i break it na lang...is it possible if i use a chainguide for my current crank its a tripple eh...i'm only 128lbs 5'5" so i guess my manitou splice can handle me naman..i ride a gt chucker, dabomb (stem, bars, seatpost), '99 magura clara hydrodisc, sram rocket/shimano drivetrain, deore disc/ringle singletrack disc rims), 2.35 maxxis mofo tires..yun na nga lang crank ang error kaya gusto ko munang remedyohan ayaw ko ng single ring, nandun pa rin kasi ang xc side ko which is uphill climbs.

Double Track Rims are tough! im a 230 pound guy on a hardtail. the rims hold up, but my m475 hubs cant take my punishment, hehehe, i destroyed the bb's and cones, hehehe ;D Anyway, i wanted to practice some jumps so i took konablack's advice, i built a mini jump in my backyard, its juat a 1 foot high ramp made of plywood and some flower pots, hehehe, here are some pics. click on image to enlarge: Dont laugh ;D small jump lang mga sirs, im a newbie eh ;D

You should have your landing on the grassy part if you plan to make your ramp higher especially if you often forget wearing your gear.

i've done some of the jumps in UP. when the two big ones were retouched, it had a much higher 'pitik' that i'm not yet used too.
i also went back to basics. i felt that i needed to master some essential techniques before going further. so i started all over. i went on practicing my bunnyhops and drops. maybe as a newbie jumper you should too. just to get the feel of having air between your tires and the ground.

You should @tribal ;D because accidents greatly reduces riding time. Wouldt you want to be on a bike rather than on a hospital bed hehe.
