Mga dudes, a lot of local DHers today are switching to clipless and its also been like that in the US for quite some time. How come balik flats naman yung mga Europeans? What's the best set-up ba talaga for DH racing clipless or platform pedals?

RIDE ON!!!

Ako clipless for dh and flats for dirtjumping. I remember last race sa Maarat, left side platform, yun sa right naka-clipless... Hanep!!!

Having 2nd thoughts due to safety reasons like easy dismounting from your bike esp DH technical runs... Why not try putting some adaptors(?)... Shimano and Xpedo are compatible with those, AFAIK... You'll have clipless & platforms right away... Cheers!

Its easy to clip-in and un-clip compared to other pedals I tried, which makes a lot of difference when your riding hard and fast. Surely worth every penny. My 0.2 cents.

question lang po regarding clipless pedals with cages . . .
when the going gets rough, can you use these pedals as if they were platforms lang? I mean, given you're wearing clipless shoes, then even if you don't clip in doing that segment given the position of your foot you could still clip in.
i'm thinking if you want to use them as platforms you have to use non clipless shoes (redundant ba?)
otherwise, what is the benefit of using a clipless with a cage out on the trail? I assume kasi even if you're using those itty bitty clipless pedals all you really need is a place to clip in so parang redundant na yung cage . . .

I wouldnt suggest clips or cages for trail riding because its harder to bail out. Maybe indoor cycling... yeah! up... down... left... right... scoop... scoop... (with funky music in the background!) hahahay... otherwise, what is the benefit of using a clipless with a cage out on the trail? Clipless pedals with cage? Is there such a thing?

here's a pic of a clipless with a cage? dunno if that's what it's called? Bottomline, I'm curious on where these type of pedals are used . . . To be honest, for me, the only use I see for it is so that if you have to go to your suking tindahan on your bike you can just use your sandals instead of having to wear your clipless shoes

i think marcs was referring to pedals in the likes of shimano 545, 647 etc...with cages made of aluminum or resin.
actually i started out using sh-646 clipless pedals with cage...first using non-bike specific merrell shoes (non-cleated)...ok naman although it slips sometimes..dyan napuno ng peklat yung shin ko..ganun naman yun rin yung iba.
marcs, pwede sana but the problem is u are using XC racing specific shoes with hard plastic sole...i tried it walang kwenta...dudulas lang paa mo...a lot better to keep your shoes engaged with the pedals...i used to have the same LG shoes...baka pwede yung SPD trail shoes with rubber sole..i have not tried it tho..
