First time i learn doing this trick called bunny hop i use to have a bond paper to be my marking so that i will know if im doing the right way by making my rear wheel clear the paper,sometimes the eager we learn tricks like this it open a different kind of hop and its called the double jump and its the window to learn the bunny hop for me.... dont wear clipless pedals if you wanna learn this trick,i know its easier to execute the bunny hop but you will be more dependent wearing it and it wont be a safe way if you get frustrated learning a trick..... if you wish you'd had a FULL SUSPENSION bike just to pull off a bunny hop well its not gonna help either,its more complicated especially if you can manipulate the rear shocks coz it will only absorb your legs compression when you dont use the advantage of the rear shocks to lift your rear wheel... this doent happen overnight and leaning some body movements and getting yourself be more confident learning this trick is a lot more practice to pull it off.... dont be afraid to learn new tricks and always remember " FiRsT TiMe BeAts ThE HaRdEsT " here's a video of RYAN LEECH on how to bunny hop i hope it helps ;D this video came from his DVD the art of trials!!!!!!!!

heres how some guys do it: 1. compress 2. lean forward 3. push & pull of bars and lean back 4. snap your body and ankles straight whilst placing the bars to your waist 5. throw bike up and forward whilst bending the kness sharply 6. the results depends on how the rider did each step this is an enjoyable move to work with, once learned you will never look at any ledge the same way again... guaranteed hehehe

During my BMX days, bunnyhop is very easy to do, but now after 25 years break from biking and being an MTB newbie, this seems very hard to do, could be because of my age, hehehe...

i can't seem to do a high bunny hop, does a long stem (xc applications) have an effect?

rcg; I can only do it very low, barely clearing humps, i hope i can master doing this to atl east be able to climb sidewalks without the need to stop and get my tires to climb one at a time.
i'm in awe whenever i see these trials riders strut their stuff, what grace..

let say that you already know how to bunny hop about 4-6 inches high, how can you increase the height of your bunny hop? what part of the process should you concentrate on? is it on the compression part, the pulling up of the bars or the part where you suck your knee in?
thanks.

Last night, me and my padi is talking about our plan to buy a road bike... But when we discuss about bunny hop with the road bikes. We can not imagine how to do it... can you share your secrets... is it the same as the MTBikes or trial bikes...

I do bunny hops on my road bike ;D. Its much easier compared to a mountain bike since its very light. By the way, the fork on that road bike is a Reynolds Ouzo comp (carbon fiber blades and Aluminum steerer). Rims is Alex. I forgot the model... its 36 holes though that's why its sturdy enough... I missed that rig .

In addition to bong's question actually is that;
what if you're riding downhill and let's say fast on a road bike then suddenly, a big road cracks or potholes surprised you...what will you do then? can you really bunnyhop a road bike? Thanks guys...

...a few years ago i heard some riders in the luzon tour bunnyhopped railroad tracks, to save time, on their roadbikes...so i guess it can be done

Thanks guys... yes boss you can! i have a an old steel roadbike and i try to do it when faced by a cumbersome pothole or crack during bike commutes. but i can only manage what i'd call as a micro bunnyhop, it feels as though it's just a jump (or doublejump) but i still do the fundamentals: the front pull first and the snap/jerk before the land

Padi, in this case, we need to buy the road bike first then study how to Bunny hop... If we already learn how to do it properly, that's the time we need to start the real road biking...

Yeah contrary to the myth. Joolz can actually do a slow speed bunnyhop.

3 easy steps to bunny hop 1) approach timid bunny from behind making sure not to spook said bunny. 2) loudly clap your hands behind said bunny. 3) watch bunny hop! Don't mind me I'm bored at the shop... hehehe
