i know a shop that still have this fork on stock, it's been there last year of november and just this morning i went the shop and its still there.. maybe it's waiting for me.. hehehe. actually when i went there last december and look at the fork i place the fork backward so the label won't be notice by other customers because i'm eyeing to that fork.. hehehe! but now i've got a new hi-tech fork from a friend. i hope suntour will change their stanchions, i don't lke the black stanchions. it will look meaner if the stanchions looks like a real metal.. Can you give us a clue where this shop is? Thanks!!

yes, epicon and axon have almost the same spec. Difference is in weight and travel. The axon being sold here in our LBS (Agnes Bike Shop, Guimba, N.E.) is 250 grams lighter with 100mm travel, no b-brake boss, with the same lockout mechanism and rebound adjustment control.

Tested this epicon on hard XC riding yesterday. D@mn this fork knows how to absorb bumps nicely on 30 kph turns on medium to moderate bumps, a little bit sluggish but its fine. I rolled over a big rock accidentaly going 25 kph on a straight idle speed.. the travel reached 4 inches without bottoming.

There are some good slopes at pasong buwaya in baccor. I tried jumping my epicon at 3 feet. Oh yes, the epicon can handle a 3 feet jump without bottoming and flexing of the estanchions. Have not tried it on 5 feet jumps coz i havent tried it and dont know how to execute a 5 feet jump yet eheh... ;D

I'm reviewing the EPICON for a possible fork upgrade. Which of the 4 models would be the most ideal to get? RLD / RL / LOD / DA? I only go light XC but I weigh 210lbs

this fork fits my budget. i think sr suntour epicon is good enough staying in control on trails. just check out the mtbr mountain bike review website. the review on this fork is above 4 chillies. sr suntour is not a big name in forks but look at the review first, you'll think twice or be convinced. I saw a video of the epicon in action at youtube. just type suntour epicon on youtube's search engine. Is the EPICON video in youtube really the EPICON? Check out the stanchions. Its not black!

kinkyhooterIt is the epicon brad. The stanchions are just faded but the performance is still at its best. As long as the performance is still good, the fork kicks ss. Thats what you get from the epicon, the performance.

@ kinkyhooter - you'll know by measuring it.
A follow up review on the epicon
It's been a busy six months for my Epicon. Purchased mine last December and its still going strong. No signs of structural damage aside from the numerous scratches mine have due to transporting and countless crashes. The stanchions faded as expected near the lowers. The solution I did was I sanded the entire stanchions. Now its naked and i like it. So far so good, no air leaks, no oil leaks, lock out and rebound still works fine. Since I acquired this fork, it has traveled 6100++ kilometers, 80% road, 20% trail. No maintenance done except cleaning and lubing the stanchions. Every other ride I wipe the dust off, every few weeks I apply silicon oil. Thats it. Now I'm very used to the remote lock I think I will miss it if ever I change fork. Its now second nature to lock it when standing up or hammering and unlock it while traversing the rough stuff.
performance 4 of 5, value 5 of 5

@ angelobryantThanks for the follow-up review. Your review and tuneinlito's encouraged me a lot already to get the EPICON I'm 210lbs, that is my only concern if the EPICON can take my weight on XC. Thought tuneinelito advised he had a friend as heavy as I am and his EPICON is still going strong For me, I always lube the stancihons with silicone every after my trail ride or everytime I clean it. I like to fade them too and have them anodized with dark gold para ala HIGH END fork ;D

Hehehe. How’d you know? MTBR? Actually, my review is no different from all the reviews here on the board. That states three very important matters about the EPICON…. PERFORMANCE, CONSISTENCY & QUALITY That sums up a lot about this fork and the brand in particular. Great value for money. Great performance. For one, I’m really all hands-up to the technologies of the other high-end forks. But in terms of my budget and performance needs, the EPICON hits it Bulls-eye for me! ;D But for just to share my review, here goes. I went to the SABAK 12-Hour trail at Filinvest yesterday afternoon. I set the PSI to 120PSI for the break-in period. I am 210lbs and the PSI for my weight is around 135-140PSI as per the Suntour manual. I am just 1 day into using the EPICON, and I am new to Air System forks but man! It’s awesome! I can really feel it absorbing my 210lbs weight. When I was using the XCR (Preload on both sides) I feel a little scared of being off-balanced coming off bumps “ex: gutters / trail bumps”, the XCR bob-down too much. Well what do you expect from a Coil-spring system without rebound. Hehehe ;D ============================================== 2008 Suntour EPICON - RLDStrengths:- Air System = Awesome! Absorbs Medium to Big bumps very well. It’s like there’s no bump at all. One can her the Air system work, one can hear the “Puff” sound when it compresses on bumps. - Hydraulic Remote speed-lock = Works efficiently. Great for ascending up-hill. Has a little play, not more than 1cm which I think helps still. - Rebound adjust = Very accurate. You will really feel that your every adjustment will have a direct effect to the rebound. ============================================== Weaknesses:- Nothing major. I just noticed that it does not absorb small bumps well, which was very much highlighted by other users at 2007 EPICON review. As advised by an EPICON buddy, decreasing the PSI and a good break-in will surely do the trick. - Bling factor?! WHO CARES! It looks good! This fork works GREAT for the budget to performance ratio. ;D

I saw your post at the "what did you buy today" thread, thats how I knew. enjoy the fork, I find I like the way it doesn't absorb the small bumps too well. Reminds me to slow down on loose gravel.

Oh! I forgot I did post my purchase of the EPICON there. Hehehehe ;D Well the small bumps issue is not that much of an issue for me. I'll just play around with the PSI and see. Thanks to all for the reviews and inputs shared!

Hi guys! I’m still in the break-in perion for my EPICON. Based on the Suntour manual, the correct PSI for my weight, 210lbs should be somewhere in 130-135 PSI. Currently I’m running 120PSI as recommended by Jimmy of Ross. I’ll try to play around with the PSI after a month of break-in. I’ll try to lower it to 110-115 PSI To all the other EPICON users, what is your Weight and PSI? Thanks!

i bought my EPICON at Kings Bikeshop in Quiapo i think last December, until now i haven't changed the default air pressure on the fork since i bought it, im 160lbs and 5'8" tall, so far the supplied air pressure suited me for now, my riding style aggresive XC, slight DH and Freeride and some minor Jumps(2-3ft drop) and bunny hopping and still this for withstand my abuse...
