Now that summer is here, funny, in other part of the world people are actually going out while the dubai people are hiding from the heat, but not us,we will still ride but early in the morning and this is the best place to do it. We are now riding in one place only which is the Nad al sheba area of Dubai. The Sheiks palace is located around here and the Nad al sheba horse race track where they hold the most prestigious and highest price in horse racing. I think its 12million USD last time or i may be wrong. And they are raising it by 25% each year. The road is 7 kilometers with dedicated bike path and each side is lined with trees with 3 meters of grass at the side. there's even a small offroad loop of 10 kms around it but we normally ride the road each friday morning. Monday and wednesday evening is also our sched here for our in-between ride and by 7 to 8 pm, the automatic sprinkler are activated cooling us in the process. I remember somebody saying " Para tayong nasa abroad" Translation= (Its like where in another country) Baliw! nasa abroad ka talaga. Trans( You are, in another country) Sorry if there are not tht much scenery shot coz the guys are so excited they sped up like startled rabbits and turning this ride into catch me if you can ride. But we will be riding this every Friday fropm now on so I will post the scenery pics next time. Half of the group only Warming up Sprinters paradise Captain Food=Jessie(always) My food is yummier than your food Jessi's rig Sorry Mods, I dont know where to post this.

Enzo,
Let's extend the ride up to the village. It is our usual evening route....one round on the regular loop, then we go to the village and come back for another round on the regular loop. That will be 35 kms. for the total loop and in case, they want more, then we'll extend to the camel race area as a finale. We'll maintain a pace and at the end whoever wants to sprint it out, they can do so as we will be ending on the same spot anyway.
For mountain bikers, they can either choose the mini offroad and join us later on the loop.
Raf123,
My original wheelset is sick and need some medications, that's why I am using my training wheelset for the meantime. I'm still dreaming for a Mavic Ksyrium ES and will remain a dream for the meantime. Enzo is the man - he left us sprinting like a cat running from dogs! But Joy told me, he will practice and will take the throne once and for all!!!
See you guys on Friday morning or....those who want to ride on Monday and Wednesday evenings, please join us! Some start at 6:00 pm, we start before 7:00 pm. Original Dubaikers like Gener Presidente and wife, Tiyong Efren, Ralph, Pavel, Mamati, Boyski, Joe Pedal are practicing on the same place.

Raf,
Due to the excitement, and the flooded road leading to NAD Al Sheba, the AVP riders made a long U-turn and came late. Next friday, we will be riding in a group maintaining a certain speed for 3 rounds then it will be all out, You should bring your other bike and race with the AVP boys. And Jessie's bike is actually 5.9 to 6 kilos. After all, It's not the bike, its the food. Spaghetti bolognese.

MountG, This is my beater bike, I have two other road bikes but not in the same league as Jessie's Weight Weeniesm bikes. My T-Mobile Advanced was stripped of the D-Ace grouppo, sold it to a friend to fuel my upgraiditis. The other Italian Stallion( Bianchi) is hibernating coz Campy is giving me some problems everytime I use it after using Shimano, I kinda forgot the release lever. Its actually a matter of getting used to, just like girlfriends. Its like calling your wife sweetheart and calling your girl darling ;D So remember which is which Dont forget JEBEL HAFEET

that's the problem with having more than one bike. that's why in my case, im using shimanos as much as possible. but then again, trying out different technologies really does enrich biking experience. that's why in your case, it becomes a challenge. for the financially impaired though, they have the advantage of mastering one setup/bike. if this is your beater bike, then your other rigs are trully awesome i guess coz this one right now is already a good one. hoping to build a road bike in the future as well. more power to you guys in the middle east.

It's the food that matters after the ride....yum yum yum....you are punishing your body when you ride the bike so at least at the end of the ride, you have to reward your body as well. I am an ordinary rider but a big time food lover....

Sonnydgr8t, The roads here in Dubai are really great for road riding but the drivers are really bad. I can sum it up in two words only, "life threathening" Smooth sticky tarmac and no potholes and water puddles. You can use the less spoke you want without fear of breaking coz there are no bumps on the road. Sad thing is, they dont respect pedestrians much more cyclist, really scary thats why we drive to this place to road ride or you use you mtb so you can go up anddown sidewalks. even in this area we are still afraid to go all out cycling coz they dont know how to drive alongside cyclist. But we have to make do of what is the only cycling friendly road or area of Dubai.

Enzo,
Same here..its also sad that sometimes motorists and cyclists cant really seem to co-exist on the road...here you gotta watch out for buses...btw great rigs...safe riding guys..

Sonnydgr8t,
Back there in the Phils, I can still do street jamming and know the pulse of the driver and the flow of the traffic. Besides, we dont drive on busy streets more than 100kph. Here, traffic or no traffic, drivers are stupidly fast. Its very unlikely that you will be hit by a Pinoy driver on a non busy street there, but here, even if its just you and one vehicle on a 4 lane road, the more chances you will be hit.
