i see... i thought the idea was to induce sweating so your temperature drops. howell. i thought so as well before... but it can cause other complications if you leave sweat unattended, especially at your back...

You can take a bath in warm water after the ride... But don't go to sleep immediately... I don't know why but this is only some advice from a friend...

i used to believe in "pasma" also but after a few years of hiking and getting soaked in the rain. in theory, something's gotta give. but hey i'm still well enough to ride my bike and skateboard, he he he.

I normally take a very quick warm shower immediately after a ride while still sweating. If there's no warm water, I take a shower after hours when my body are totally cool down...

When I take a bath after biking I let my body cool down first within an hour. But after working out at the gym, I go first to the sauna and then immediately take a bath but do it quickly compared to my usual shower ritual.

After a long ride, I surf the net for 30 mins to past the time and to rest (to cool down). Then a dip in a luke warm bath tub to relax the aching muscles after that a nice cold beer and a DVD movie. Sigurado tulog ako before the movie ends...

for me my routine is,after a long ride i put some rubbing alcohol all over my body then i take a quick shower. i don't know, i just got used to it. maybe it's because of the influence of the commercial of family rubbing alcohol..."dehins lang pampamilya, pang isports pa!".
i got this advice from my friend's physical therapist. always rub alcohol first after a very exhausting activity before taking a shower to prevent "LAMIG" into our muscles. "lamig" causes muscle pains daw.
another myth?

What the Japanese do, after a hard day's work, is dip into a pot of (very) hot water.

Just take a bath immediately after biking or any other physical activity while your still sweating. This advice i got from old timers from a gym in intramuros. I've been doing this since 1994. Before that, i used to rest for 30 minutes before hitting the showers, my upper back muscles are always aching, sabi nila napasukan daw ng lamig.

There's no such thing as PASMA.... especially when you hear a very familiar voice saying, "LIGO TAYO" ;D

There's no such thing as PASMA.... especially when you hear a very familiar voice saying, "LIGO TAYO" ;D There's this such word as homeostasis. So, some doctors don't believe in pasma... ;D Me neither. But what I do is I take a few minutes to rest a bit. Then others wouldn't have believed in it... Perhaps, science has its limitations in understanding the mysteries of life, intergalactic realms, life after death... the list goes on. Well, we wouldn't know it until we crossed the other side of the bridge. So, let's all try taking a bath for those who haven't done this tremendous feat. Cheers!

...if the bike is dirty after a ride, I would wash it immediately ( it doesn't care about pasma)... and I usually get wet in the process
if i dont need to wash the bike immediately, i would normally do my stretches before taking the shower. But if I come of a ride too tired even to do the stretching.. i just hit the shower immediately so i can eat...then sleep..zzzzz

ok here's something sensible so there may not be such a thing as pasma, but taking a bath after riding may have some bad effects. gadgets88 (the graphics artist) got it right. see, one taxi driver told me not to wet my body after a strenuous activity. his legs are tattered with veins. back when he was working as a mechanic, he would wash his feet after biking to work. he strongly advised to do otherwise well, this vein on my left foot has been bothering me. so i made it a point to rest first before wetting anything. remove my shoes and stuff. i consulted my sister and she said she knew that all the time. wetting tired body parts will get veins popping. she said you need to get blood circulation whatever first. i also remembered back in hs that the girls in our class would ask the teacher if we could wear slippers during the period before our swimming class. so there, DON'T take a bath after riding. rest first. remove your shoes. my taxi driver added using warm water helps. the vein on my left foot doesn't pop out anymore. after a dirty ride, i take off my shoes, perk up my bike on a bike stand, remove my shoes, wash the bike relax then take a warm bath. i'm proud that i'm crazy enough to wash my bike first than myself. and hey, if i wash the bike then i'll get dirty again. also, my masseuse told me that LAMIG thing. turns out this LAMIG is the lump of, er, stress, that collects on your shoulder. she tries to rub the lump out (rather painfully) each session. i'd really like to know more about this lamig/lump of 'stress' (as she put it) on my back. perhaps i should start a thread... ps: this lump is pretty common. you probably have it. my dad has one. you can only feel it when on a certain position (on a massage table i guess)
