Dear Greenpeace Activist,
We have asked you to switch off last July and now, this August, you are challenged to do another very simple act for the planet…UNPLUG! Support Greenpeace in fighting climate change. Unplug your computers, TV, microwave ovens when they are not in use. Make sure they are not on stand-by mode, otherwise they’ll continue to consume electricity and energy even when you are not using them. Consuming more energy than necessary translates to more carbon dioxide emissions from coal-fired power plants!
Simpleng, Simple lang, Unplug na!
Simple acts when done collectively will definitely help stop climate change. So, do a simple act now, Simple lang, pledge to unplug this August.
To pledge, just log on to www.greenpeace.org.ph/simplelang or text GREENPEACE to 2948. As soon as you sign up, you will get regular tips on simple acts that you can do to help stop climate change.
Simple lang, Pledge for the Planet!
Effective letters come from individuals
Letters that reflect the views of individuals carry more weight than a pre-written email. Use Greenpeace's letter as a starting point, but consider adding your own comments to increase the effectiveness of the letter.
Points to consider:
The recipient might receive dozens of letters a day, and hundreds of letters on a single issue each week. Personalizing your letter, in particular the opening paragraph, will set it apart from others received and ensure that it is read.
Consider making a specific request in your letter. Ask a direct question and ask for a written response.
Remember you are writing to a person who is probably motivated by the same things you are. Be specific about why you are writing them this letter.
After you have used this Action Centre to send your email, consider following up with a hand written letter or card that you can send in the mail.
Finally, don't discount the power of a single letter, email or phone call. Every voice counts.
is an independent, campaigning organization which uses non-violent, creative confrontation to expose global environment problems, and to force the solutions which are essential to a green and peaceful future.
