As a regular commuter every morning on my way to work... I always ride a bus from Cubao to Comm. Ave. Recently I have noticed that there is a PAWNSHOP for motorcycles and bicycles near the corner of EDSA and East Ave. before from my point of view riding a bus, there are just a few rigs inside and mostly present on the place where the trend of today automatic motorbikes, yesterday, from what I've seen it's more likely to be an LBS rather than a Pawnshop because it's almost filled with bikes, there are even bikes hanged up side down.
Aside from it, before I purchase my bike last may, a fellow gym mate told me that there is this place at Gilmore which is also a Pawnshop that sells quality bikes for prices way lower than we might imagine and as per my gym buddy's words...the bikes are far more expensive than my less than 30K entry branded Trek...
why would some people who's rich enough to buy an expensive bike may preffer to pawn it where the value would only be 20%-30% of it's original cost rather than sell it themselves to have a better value???

i work near that place. they also have their periodic subasta like ordinary pawnshops. some of those who pawned their rigs are maybe financially hard ups but this is also another way to dispose off stolen bikes, but most probably by small time thieves. ;D
