hello people... it might be a good idea to have a proof that your serial number is really yours... Anyone can put a serial number of someone else's bike, and claim it's his if we continue this... attaching a picture of the bike with the owner and a separate pic of the serial number would be an intelligent addition... at least we have a basis for the bike and owner... my cousin had his bike stolen in boracay a few months ago but found the bike being used on a DH race in aklan. he had his bike back after proving to the lespu w/ pictures and receipts that it is his... the serial number didnt serve any purpose...

The serial number is like an alpha-numeric code. How can one come up with it if he/she never had the bike at all?

The serial number is like an alpha-numeric code. How can one come up with it if he/she never had the bike at all? what if someone registers a stolen frame? havent you even thought of that? you can get a serial number of any frame... it is as simple as looking at it and writing it down

I can go to UP, pick up a bike or hold it and have my pictures taken. Further, what if they paint the frame with another color? With regard to receipts, not everyone got their frames brandnew. So pano na?
With regard to registering a stolen frame, then I guess that's the owner's loss since he or she didn't register it first.
... that's why I'm posting my frame's serial number here- so everyone knows it's mine.

good idea enhanced idea = brand model of frame + frame serial number + photo of the stamped serial number + bike colors..in one thread serves all parties concerned . In upholding property rights , excess proof is better I ll come up with my data pretty soon...now where are my bikes? ooops

I can go to UP, pick up a bike or hold it and have my pictures taken. Further, what if they paint the frame with another color? then when the owner of the bike sees that pic posted, he can quickly notify the people here that the bike is his. A photo of the bike can be better recognized quickly than a serial number. thats why i was suggesting other means of registration di ba... dont let your violent reaction get in the way of simple logical thinking... well then again, if we require a photo, the bike can be recognized quickly, given that it wasnt repainted or anything. having a photo of the bike will make it more recognizable to the PinoyMTBiker community. i didnt say not to post your serial numbers here. I simply said that a photo along with the serial number would make your bike more recognizable. and by the way, some frames have no serial number, the 2000-2002 GT's sold around local bike shops is one example. I had one before. some other high-end but brandless frames sold around have no serial numbers. most of these kasi are "takas" lang from the taiwan factory as Paulina of Paulina's bike shop says. they are actually the exact same frame pero without the badging and the serial. so how do we deal with this? and may I add another suggestion to also post serial numbers of your other components like forks. most are more expensive than your frame if you think about it.

*sigh* easy with the exchange...just post what you think is helpful for the thread. If they want the pic posted or not..its up to the bike owners. After Arnel post his bike's serial numbers and photos, I will have them photoshopped, printed and proceed to a local lespu station to file those bikes stolen and perpetrator was last seen hauling the bikes on a gold suv heading to Casimiro area.

hmm...i would suggest that whenever we buy an item with considerable price like a fork or frame, have the serial number written on the receipt by the vendor...that i guess is the best proof of ownership of that particular frame or fork.
for a second hand item, prepare a deed of sale (or equivalent) with the serial number indicated therein...signed by both parties.
my 2 cents.

read that somewhere. post your contact info etc and in big bold letters, THIS BIKE WAS STOLEN inside the steerer tube. That way, when it's serviced by a bike shop, then you just might get a nice phonecall . . .
