i also had a series of run-ins with such a--hole PUV drivers. well, if i'm in the same situation as nell- i wouldn't hesitate to do that and beat the hell out of that scumbag. especially, i'm being the one aggraved. yes, being a motorist would help to anticipate the behavior of such low-lifes. they seemed to have no respect to other road users. even those who are in 4-strokes were st*pid. i had a run-in with some too. one in particular has tried to make me fell off my rig by hitting and cutting me in fork. d@mn. but didn't fell off, instead i stopped and picked a rock then try to catch up. the let loose of the rock in my hand. the rock is about 3 inches long and 1 inch thick. hit him in the back with full force. he didn't have the chance to get back at me as he was crossing the intersection at that time. yup...this motorcycle dudes are the new claimants of the road...next to jeepneys w/c are next to tricycles w/c are next to trucks...and the list goes on...

I had my run ins with jeepneys and FXs in my short time in ParaƱaque. Because I am a foreigner I chose to yell at them. Maybe that is why the two local bikers looked at me and said, "Here comes the angry American!" ;D
Our cagers here are not any better. The biggest problem is they drive a lot faster.

Food Chain: Buses/trucks eat jeeps/FXs... eat cars...eat motorbikes....eat bikes...eat dust ...
Be safe... especially on intersections...junctions ...where the bigger predators usually consume all their senses on looking out for smaller species...
Most of the time they step on bikers just to get thru the main street.

Nice pecking order you got there, and I couldn't agree more.
Aside from the fact that they spew smoke at you when you accidentally or intentionally follow them, they more often than not will not really give a flying f#$k about bikers in general.
We can cry foul, but the sad and true fact of the matter is we are at the bottom of the road pecking order....

the man was 'nataranta' when the truck honked its horn continuously... needless to say, the old man lose control... ... Those vehicles that honk continously or those that try to pass then suddenly blow their horn loudly just as soon as they are abreast piss me off real good. Especially if they were already given enough room to pass. I had this experience when I was leisurely climbing a hill. I was on the side close to the gutter giving way to passing vehicles when this shiny new van passed. As soon as he was beside me, he honked so hard I almost jumped. I got the urge to sprint after him and when I get beside him, lean a well scratched bar end against him then slam on the brakes to politely transfer some paint artwork ;D Lucky for the van, I left it as is: just an urge. hehehe!

not to be elitist about it but we all know that it is hard to be a PUJ driver here...basically you'll want another way to earn a living. I am tempted to print in a piece of paper "habambuhay driver ka, kasi wala kang modo at tanga ka pa!" and when a driver crosses me and I had a chance, I'll meekly give it to one of the passengers to give to the driver. hopefully the message/insult will penetrate his thick skull and...well...make him think for a change! or better yet not to be a driver anymore so one less bad driver. I still haven't done it though

This is kinda long, my apologies in advance for having a lot to say about this... But writing this (last year) helped me vent my road rage against @#xx!%^*##@!!! drivers and finally I have a forum to share this with hehehe ;D
I am sick and tired of being bullied by truck drivers, jeepney drivers, taxi drivers, SUV drivers, fancy car drivers, school van drivers, bus drivers, and motorcyclists when I'm on my mountain bike! It takes me about 30 minutes of cycling through fumes and concrete streets to get to a fairly rough road, or a good trail where I know I'll be free from harassment on wheels. In those 30 minutes on the city streets, these are the things that usually happen:
I choke in black clouds of diesel fumes, or white clouds of carbon monoxide emitted by vehicles that shift into low gear just to overtake me.
I get deafened and startled out of my own skin by a bus blowing its horn behind me.
I get cat calls and whistles and lewd remarks, and no, I don't find the attention flattering. If a biker boy tells me I ride well, that's flattering.
I get forced into the gutter or unto the sidewalk by a driver that brings his vehicle alongside me, slows down, and turns ever so slightly into my non-existent bike lane. Just the other day, I could feel and hear a truck bearing down on me so I moved up onto the sidewalk and as soon as I did that the truck's rear tire swiped the edge of the sidewalk. I gladly gave the truck the finger as it disappeared around the bend, but I really wished I could've given it some serious damage.
If I were Miss Universe and believed in world peace, then I'd wish for well-mannered drivers and bike lanes all over the city. But I hate beauty pageants. So here is an armory of secret weapons I wish I had in my war against bullies behind wheels: (But yes, bike lanes would be nice. And drivers who actually respect bikers and bike lanes would be lovely.)
I wish I had retractable blades in my shoes and handlebar-grips so as to scratch their shiny paint jobs if they come too close for comfort.
I wish I had dart guns attached to my hubs, so as to shoot nails into the tires of cowards that call out to me from a safe distance.
I wish I could instantly convert my bike frame into a bazooka and shoot potatoes into the exhaust pipes of smoke belchers.
I wish I had a sound bubble around me that could deflect loud horns and multiply the force of the sound and send it back to the source in higher decibels.
I wish I could give flying dagger looks, literally.

Tama nga naman (trans. you have a point). We shouldn't stereotype all jeepney drivers as the nemesis of cyclists. But I still think that MOST but NOT ALL drivers of MOST but NOT ALL vehicles do pose a danger to bikers. I think they even go out of their way to be aggressive towards female riders... Or am I imagining this? What do the mtbbabes have to say about this?

I guess this is my chance to air my side to a thinking jeepney driver/operator/owner. The main point is how can WE help most of the drivers (jeepney most specially since they are relatively the most obvious around metro manila) to practice matured and proper driving? or in our case how can PinoyMTBiker help? maybe we should start a new thread titled "how can we teach jeepney drivers to drive properly?"

oh! there are exceptions indeed sir rexman...but they are the type of drivers that passengers curse for being "too slow", for not stopping the moment he hears the word "para!"...what passengers call "kulang sa diskarte" when the traffic gets bumper to bumper.
they don't cut trip...if possible, would only stop at designated places..they don't overcharge passengers...they are polite..they are the type that usually earn less than the other drivers...and usually end up being cursed by their wives too.
how do i know all these? its a long story.

I'm w/ you brader I give them a lot of slack ( unless reckless ), kasi their trying to make a living din. Driving for an hour is tiring enough for me . Lalo na if your driving the whole day. Your bound to make mistakes Plus the last 2 times I had a flat tire in the middle of nowhere and at night. It was jeepney drivers who stopped and helped out Bus drivrs and tricycle drivers however , should be shot

drivers???
i too drive...but when i'm on the road and see some biker ..i tend to protect them like giving them space and not letting the madman jeep cut them over. i sometimes get along with roadies and other bikers and greet them "good day" or "ride safe"...at least i make them feel that i care for them.

i do actually had more bad experiences on those delivery vans and taxi aside from public vehicles. couple of incident are those making you 'pina' (getting to close to you at high speed even if road is wide) and not giving you any chance even you had already showed multiple/noticable hand signals.

Around Sangandaan, Caloocan I don't have problems with jeepneys because they cannot swerve or drive that fast because of the traffic!! ;D What I hate is those unruly pedicabs! At least give a signal somehow that your going to turn or at least look to your left when turning left and vice versa!!!! Argh!! It maybe a little ironic that I have problems with fellow bike men but that's just how it is there... Hehehehe... Just sharing... ;D

yeah..i hate it when the drivers make sudden stops when someone makes "para"..my buddy once banged himself and his bike behind one jeep in sta mesa..nearly cried in agony..hehe
also once i bumped my handlebar against an fx's tail light, the tail light was crushed afterwards..i had to pay the man even though he threw curses at me...huhu...although i knew it was quite my fault..hehe
