hello! bike all the way if you like long distance riding. the shortest route from makati, is to take EDSA to monumento then macarthur highway all the way to guiguinto, then cagayan valley road (highway) from plaridel-pulilan-baliuag-SanRafael--SanIldefonso then san miguel town proper, then biak na bato--would probably be about 90kms one-way. and that's mostly highway-riding. if i were you (since you asked), i'd conserve my energy for riding in trails and backroads. i'd take the bus. in pasay, there is a Five Star Bus terminal along EDSA--take the Cabanatuan trip and tell the driver to drop you off in san miguel. from there it's about 10kms (or more) to biak na bato i think. you can put your bike in the bus cargo hold, just take off the wheels. from biak na bato, you can then ride around the area, like madlum. i just found out from another PinoyMTBiker member, RAF, that there are plenty of trails in san miguel. if you are free, we ride saturdays around bulacan. we can set a meeting place and time. PM me if you are interested. safe riding!

my mom's province is in san miguel, bulacan (smb, he he he), my cousin also lives there. same advice as whoopi. take of the wheels, put the frame in the cargo hold of the bus, get off at san miguel, either near st. paul or near PLDT, the conductor and driver knows these. then just ask for directions to biak-na-bato. the road is either cemented or asphalt. It was renovated because FVR visited it prior to the 100 years independence celebration. my cousin brought his mtb from megamall to san miguel on a bus, so i know it won't be a problem loading it

@lamok: that's arnie, yes she's from sta. maria. it's a longer route to go inside the towns (bocaue, angat, sta. maria, etc.), plus there's a bit of rolling roads pa. though it's safer. going via the national highway (with the jeeps and buses) is shorter, but hairier.

The shortest distance between 2 points is a straight line, EDSA forms a letter C to monumento. The shortest way to Monumento is by following the LRT (the straight line). Take Buendia to LRT TAFT then just follow the LRT. It will save you half the distance atleast.
