from marikina...hmmmm...try riverbanks, then off to c5 (for a few km. then hit the road that leads you to the mormon church. Ortigas Ave off to cardinal santos medical center. Take P Guevarra...then shaw blvd. From shaw take a left to that street near nueve de pebrero (sorry i dont know the name). just go straight till you hit the mandaluyong city hall. from the city hall straight again towards makati. when you reach the makati - mandaluyong bridge take a left at the stop light and you will end up somewhere near colgate palmolive which is near rockwell'
Pedal power !!! I hope I didnt confuse you with my directions

this is another route and i'm not sure if this route is ok with you. from marikina take c-5, left to kalayaan ave. (crossing Buting), upon hitting the crossing near FBGC Gate 1 turn right and take the JP Rizal ext. just pedal straight through JP Rizal ext. and i think within 2 kms or so you'll see the signboard pointing to Rockwell Power Plant Mall which will be on your left side this is the route i'm using from pasig to amari (Mall of Asia) ride safe btw - don't take this route since you don't want to use C-5 pala he..he..he..

this is the route i usually take everytime i ride in rizal area, by the way, i'm from mandaluyong and it's barely 3kms away from rockwell:
are you somewhat near sta lucia? if so, take dela paz (at the back of sta lucia), then to ortigas ext via manggahan. go straight up to meralco then to shangri-la. cross edsa going to mandaluyong via shaw blvd, left turn at samat st. then follow the road going to barangka drive. straight ahead going to makati-mandaluyong bridge. once on top of the bridge, you'll definitely see ROCKWELL!
hope this helps.
cheers!

i used to live in Makati near Rockwell, and used to bike a lot to Rizal via Marikina and back. LUI-G's route is the one i usually took. but from Manggahan you still have to cross and ride through C5 for a short bit di ba, in order to get to meralco?
anyway, crossing EDSA at shaw, a faster way and more straightforward is to turn left at EDSA and keep going till guadalupe bridge, then turn right there, left at the stoplight along JP Rizal and you'll hit Rockwell on your left a few blocks later. i find EDSA less hairy than C5 anyway ;D

correct me if i'm wrong pero someone told me that C5 and EDSA is prohibited to bikes which was ruled by the SUpreme Court for safety reasons kaya as much as possible don't want to bike along that highways... Confirm ba to so that i can consider some routes that you have suggested earlier... tnx

the only law i've heard of is, no biking on depressed lanes (i.e., underpasses), and on roads where there's a minimum speed limit that you can't manage to sustain on a bike (e.g., expressways). otherwise, public roads are free game for bikes.

marikina > Riverbanks > C5 > J. Vargas > Meralco Ave > Shaw blvd. > Crossing > Edsa > Guadalupe > Rockwell.
most of the road have side walks.
i live in pasig, near ultra and i use that route goin to SM MALL OF ASIA...so far complete pa body parts ko and be alert lang and never never never bike without your helmet

EDSA too.. even I ply that route sometimes if my bike would be coming from Caloocan, enroute to UP or to Maarat Trails.. dehins pa naman kme hinaharang.

biking along edsa I think is allowed..coz i usually take edsa from pasay to crossing and back..riding maybe around twice a week..been passing mmdas and even being overtaken by mmdas on motorbikes.. i agree with whoopi..edsa is better to ride than taking c5..from marikina take c5 then up meralco..then shaw blvd left at edsa..straight to guadalupe up to kalayaan rockwell or down to j.p rizal..ive observed taking edsa from crossing to rockwell is easier coz most of the road are down hill especially reaching boni...just be careful of the buses...just my 2 cents...happy riding.
