as when the quotes at the peak of mt.apo... Take nothing but pictures Leave nothing but footprints Kill nothing but time Most of us really wanted to take pix of each new trail or event just want to snap and click every precious moment (a.k.a. Kodak) ;D But us, bikers, would only have the chance to take pix before trails, during rest or after trails. It is because, we really have to do a long stop to get to your back and get your cam and shot. currently, im using a canon 300D. and this is very impossible to be called an ultimate trail camera. ;D As i went to a near mall yesterday, i was trying to window shop for smallest camera. i found this one to be smallest but has good feature. the tag price of P19,950 Do you guys know something that is better of? the one that we could call ultimate trail camera. with a function of small, reliable, nice image shot, sturdy or anythng pa post away!

I'd go for Canon's A640 (Php23K). A little bigger but still very manageable, light and very able (technically). Uses AA batteries kaya it's easy to find/buy spares in the municipalities before you hit the boondocks. However, as with other point & shoots, taking spontaneous action shots ala-MBAction would be very difficult- if its possible at all.

For me an outdoor camera should have standard battery, yung mga AA or AAA
If it has built in battery i dont like it.
First it's expensive and buying a lot of battery i believe is unreasonable. Compared with AA or AAA its available almost anywhere

The ultimate trail camera for me would probably come from the Olympus Stylus family. It's shock-proof and is waterproof to different depths (depending on the model). And although it's at 27k++ (as seen in Glorietta, before the bomb went off of course) I think it would be worth it. Imagine all the rainy day pictures you could take with it and it sure would be one less thing to worry about if you crash during a river crossing. Check it out here: www.olympusamerica.com/cpg_section/cpg_digital_sw.asp

cheaper by around 10K if you purchase it at hidalgo.
my gf bought a camera, canon ixus 850 is, at henry's last july. it's nice and compact, and it has an image stabilizer; even if your hands are shaky, the images are not blurred. we got it for 17.5K. after two weeks, i went back and window shopped at wilson (neighbor of henry's) and they were selling it for 16.5K (wala pa tawad). shameless plugs for those two shops at quiapo, but sulit talaga dun! ;D
*edit*
the ixus 850 IS has its own battery by the way. if you're traveling, you need to bring the charger with you. that's the only drawback i see from purchasing that camera.

this must be really cool. but how about the size? SHOCKPROOF (5FT). Accidents happen — but don't worry! The Stylus 770 SW's durable construction is designed to withstand a five-foot drop, bump, or other mishap, so your camera and images are protected. WATERPROOF (33FT). We've combined precision optics with innovative waterproof sealant technologies. Capture beautiful snapshots in the pool, at the waterpark or in the ocean — down to depths of 33 feet (10m) — and even record underwater movies with sound. FREEZEPROOF (-10°C/14°F). Here's another reason this camera is as tough as you are. Whether you're skiing in Switzerland, climbing in Canada or just sledding in your own backyard, the 770 SW is winterized to perform at below-freezing temps. they have option too...

if it's waterproof....how come it has a plastic casing? more importantly, is the casing included? i wish there's a camera with a remote lens. samsung miniket (?) had that feature, but it's not a still camera

Still, it's more than enough for riding around in the rain and for river crossings. But If you want to dive with it, that's where the optional casing comes in. Gawd I want one. Hey Sup! Yeah mas mura talaga sa Hidalgo. Sa Mayer panalo presyo. (trans: Yeah it's cheaper if you buy it in Hidalgo, Mayer has good prices) jtoms - Maliit lang brad (trans: it's quite compact) my guesstimate is 2x4 inches.

BTW, you should also consider EASE OF USE on the trail. Small cameras can be a pain to use because they have correspondingly small controls- buttons, switches, etc. Even with bare hands.
It would certainly be a bother to remove your gloves everytime you see a nice subject to shoot along the trail. Roadies on the other hand, would not have this problem because they don't use full-fingered gloves.
