UPDATE on my camera:
To those who posted here thanks for your tips/suggestions but my DigiCam can not be repaired at Hidalgo since they do not have the parts. It's the PCB so I have no choice but to bring it back to Canon Service Center. I'm having 2nd thoughts on whether I should pay 9.5k or buy a new one. (No Canon brands, pls)
Thanks PinoyMTBiker!!!

you can try watson and mayer, they give competitive price, but i prefer mayer, btw, in terms of color and white balance canon is the best and mayer is very good in their after sales service. i canvassed last saturday the canon A540 6 mp , Php 9,800.00 happy shopping

i have no idea about the price in singapore , but the advantage of purchasing locally is the warranty.

So...
which model did you get?
Bring it on Friday!
The badminton court is a good place to test how a camera takes action shots under limited lighting condition!

If I were to purchase a point and shoot today, that would be very good for sports and outdoors, I'd go for the Olympus Digital MJUs. All of them are water resistant. One model is even waterproof to 15ft, shockproof to a drop of 5ft on cement floor, and dust resistant.
drool! drool! ;D
Waterproof, shock-proof, dust resistant are very nice features. I thrashed a few cameras dropping them on the sand, or even moisture on the beach or water themeparks. I also lost one camera because it was so compact, I didn't notice it was out of my hands. What I haven't done is thrashed my camera doing some macro shots in a jacuzzi. Ought to try it sometime, maybe...
