PinoyMTBiker Wawa-Montalban's Japanese AND/OR Pamintinan Caves Exploration
Date: 18 March 2007, Sunday
Assembly Place: Aling Norma's Store, Wawa, Montalban
Assembly Time: 0800hrs
considering that it is the start of the summer season, we are planning to share the fun of spelunking (caving) to PinoyMTBiker.
anybody can join!
the caves in montalban are historical ones. the farthest one is the japanese cave, with the biggest chamber, but is the shortest. the longest is the pamintinan cave or bonifacio's cave, which is level with the river. usually, by summer the water inside pamintinan cave is almost gone. so it's the best time to explore the extent of the cave.
how to get there:
- ride your mtb going to wawa (bring your bikelock)
- ride your vehicle going to wawa
- ride jeepney/fx going to montalban; alight at san isidro market/total gas station; ride jeepney going to wawa
things to bring:
- yourself ;D
- helmet (you're mtb helmet is good)
- headlamp or flashlight
- fresh batteries for your headlamp/flashlight
- extra headlamp or flashlight
- extra fresh batteries for your extra headlamp/flashlight
- photo/video equipment (compulsory!)
- first-aid kit/personal prescription medicine
- money *
- daypack (to carry all your equipment)
- food (snacks)
- water (2 liters or less is ok)
- waterproofing (garbage bags, ziplocs, grocery bags, etc.)
things to leave behind:
- your claustrophobia
clothing:
- training (running) shoes, trekking shoes, and sandals are fine
- comfortable outdoor clothing (your mtb garb is good)
- a change of clothing
oh, i almost forgot, be ready to hike... that's going to the caves, inside the caves, and back
see you there!
* 2 years ago, the tourism board of the municipality of rodriguez (formerly montalban) passed a resolution to have an 'activity fee' wherever it is done in wawa river gorge. the said activity fee is P500. now, from information, the 'activity fee' covers only the right-side of the river gorge. all activities done opposite is not covered. considering that the caves are at the left side of the river gorge, we expect that we don't have to pay such 'activity fee'. but we don't know for sure...
also, separate from the municipal tourism board, the barangay in that area (where we will be visiting and registering) request a minimal donation be given. any amount collected from the group is okay.
mga pasimuno: jaymz & freeman... (mountguitars, you're also involved now... hehehehe...) ;D ;D ;D ;D
