i just talked to a chinese guy last night and asked about the chinese way of pairing a couple. he said that to avoid misunderstanding in their belief and traditions that's why they prefer chinese partners.

It's their loss ;D
Seriously, yeah, I think it's with the traditions etc (at least that's what I remember my Chinese friends explained to me). Hard to understand those traditions daw if you ain't Chinese.
Don;t think it's just Chinese naman, I mean, I know some religious groups also have this. Anyone been given the line, "thou shall not yoke with an unbeliever?" and it's just because different christian groups sila . . .
Ride na lang, alang Chinese, Pinoy, Cono, etc lahat tayo bikers! ;D

Hmm.. looks like eikichi is asking if "there's a way to change" our (Filipinos/Non Chinese) image.
Looks like me type cyang chinita ;D
Come on brad, let them think whatever they want to... Don't be too desperate with a girl ( assuming ). And you don't have to make "pakitang tao" just to change their beliefs.
Yes, these things do happen, I agree with Marcs pointing out that these things happen not only to the Chinese but also to some religion. I think this is a form of rejection.. since one is different they (or we) seem to reject/isolate them.
I think the best way to go is for you to be familiar with the girl's (assuming uli) family. Pag nakilala ka na nila, there probably will come a time they will agree in your relationship (assuming na naman)
BTW you're still in school right?

then again, some say it's just a convenient excuse to turn away unwanted suitors . . . coz if they really wanna be with you, then they'll fight for the relationship.
but then again, if you're still both in school, that's a different story i think. since dependent pa yung girl sa parents, she'll really hold on to their wishes I think. Iba if she's working and sort of dependent na.

i have 2 chinese friends from school waaay waaay before, he he he 1) the girl will be married to a filipino guy soon. also a classmate of ours 2) the guy on the other hand had a filipina gf. funny how he defended his side to his mom. Guy: Mom if our ancestors didn't leave China, then I wouldn't have this problem. Now deal with it. he he he, he's a funny guy. anyway sad to say it didn't work out for #2, he got married to a chinese girl. yeah, most of the parents just didn't want to lose the traditions that's why they want a chinese partner for their kids. but hey, if you like the girl go for her just show the family that you're a good guy who understands and respects their traditions good luck brad

Chinese culture want their sibling to have someone with Chinese blood. How to circumvent this? It's tough. Chinese are very good on business. If you are an ordinary Filipino guy with no chinese blood and you like a girl of chinese ancestry, then you should have a business that is susccessful. Only then maybe you will get her dad approval. But still if she loves you much and willing to turn her back against their tradition then you should be able to prove to her family that you can live without any of their support.

Bike na. Hit the trails. Fly downhills with exhilarating freedom. Today, you are a new man. Aren't you lucky you have a mountain bike to return to, to hug, to clean, to lubricate, to sleep with, and to ride when heartbroken, lonely and forlorn.

When I was young I wanted or rather say dream to have a relationship with a western girl. Pero I still wanted to marry a Maria Clara type Filipina and I did. This gives me much happiness. My sister married a jewish american guy and they are happy too. It's not the culture we're cultivating in a relationship but on how you will make your relationship go stronger and sweeter.
