Got my very 1st bike in 1985 ,grade shool, ( the time when "RAD" the movie is a hit - for those who can remeber ) ..... after working part-time as a "lightman" in a certain video shop... I finally got the fund to buy me a BMX bike but the sad part was ............ that it got stolen a few months later ..... and now after 23 yrs. I have mustered the guts to buy me a new bike (GTS M7 frame MTB) ...... glad that I made the decision and enjoying the ride... Ride on

My first bike was the all-steel, solid rubber tires, no brakes, small wheels (size 10, i think) and doesn't freewheel. That's my learning bike. After learning on how to ride on 2-wheels, my dad bought me a decent Diamond Back BMX worth P425.00. Oh, I can still remember that day...

Vaguely. I remember it was a Blue all steel bmx with solid rubber tires and plastic rims (Tough wheels). That was the bike that my dad gave me after I asked a Hutch or a Redline from him. My first MTB (grade 7 circa 1990) was a all steel as well. The one's with the cantilever brakes installed under the chainstay. I was so proud when I upgraded my crank to a deore xt. I sold the bike after a year and got a Parkpre bike (oldschool). After that was the dark ages of my biking life.

i don't have any recollection of my first bike when i was a little kid. hmmn... maybe i never had one. the first bike that i can remember was my BMX when i was in high school. it was a pk ripper. it was originally black then i repainted it dark green. this was in the early 90's. i saved up for that bike but my mom still gave me the money to complete building it. i used to take that bike everywhere i went. i remember back then i would rather ride than play basketball which was the thing to do at the time. i loved that bike, too bad i broke it. hehehe! i wish i saved at least some parts of it though. then came my first mtb in 1997. it was a steel bike which i had built in cartimar. it was the fruit of my first job. i never really got into serious mtbking until 2004. from then on its just changing from 1 part to another. i guess i really love cycling and i hope i never stop. ;D

My first bike was when I was in 2nd grade. The brand was Redline or Mongoose (I think). It was "steel" heavy. ;D But, it was the first time I was able to learn to ride the bike. Oh, I remember during that time that I upgraded the brake levers to 2-fingers and later to a one-finger lever.
The bike was bought somewhere near Cartimar.

-first bike was a BMX -my father bought it for me when i was in grade 6 -the bike lasted on an hour after crashing it to his new car. -the bike was immediatly confiscated and sold by my furious dad
-after several months, for some pityfull reason he bought me a steel diamond back mountain bike.

My first bike was a kiddie size banana seat easy rider complete with wheel balancers and chain cover when I was around 5 or 6 years old. I got it as a christmas present from my father. My younger brother got a bling bling green firetruck and the youngest (and most malikot among us) got a blue go-kart. I remember parading around our town block on that mini bike every afternoon after school until the balancers broke and I had to ride it as it was intended.
My second bike was a chrome plated Kuwahara BMX with sleek cro-moly tubes and Araya rims - and beautiful metallic red components - this time a christmas present from an aunt who is a ninang and who had a thriving bike shop. Being clumsy and a crash magnet (still am btw hehe), I failed to learn any tricks on it and it eventually ended up as my commuter bike to school until it was stolen a few years later.
After more than a decade off the saddle - I got myself my first mountainbike last year. It was a generic flexy n clunky alu frame - with old Shimano XT parts and MOB disk brakes and hubs - complete with red sidewall 1.3 MOB commuter tires, big BMX saddle AND may stand pa!. It only lasted 2 months before addiction and upgraditis striked and I built a more high end bike hihihi ... ;D

when i was very very little, my cousins and i had bikes w/ training wheels. i couldn't remember what mine looked like but i remember envying my cousin because she was the first to ride w/out training wheels. my first "real" bike was a red steel bike (we called it BMX but it wasn't a real BMX). i got it on my 10th birthday, a surprise from my parents (by surprise i mean i've been bugging my parents forever, they finally gave in on my bday). instead of the usual opening of gifts at my party, i had a ribbon cutting ceremony!!! i even have a picture of it, i was in my pink party dress with white floral-lacey apron. that bike taught me to slow down on corners especially if there's a big mound of sand/cement outside a house that's being built. i learned the hard way.

It was a Japan made Puma brand (steel), easy rider version 32 x 16 gearing had a double saddle, and Japan made Eliminator tyres, they were slick and square shaped that had bold white letters imprinted on it. The fork too was Puma beefy rigid one. My mother had it built at King's bike shop, it was still Jane's father handling the store, way back pre- martial law era. If I'm not mistaken it cost Php300 then.
To date it is still used by the household help in the AHVA in the south.
