A photo taken in March 2006 in Turkey shows Ariane Amann and Xavier Merour during their trip on horizontal bicycles from Mongolia to France. The couple left the Mongolian capital Ulan-Bator, crossed China, Kirghizistan, Uzbekistan, Turkmenistan, Iran, Armenia, Georgia, Turkey, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Austria, Germany and arrived in France in the begining of the summer, travelling an average of 70 kms per day
since they're riding recumbent bikes, maybe the thinking is "not too far a fall to the ground and we don't need helmets". let's hope they just posed for the photo without helmets. it sure would be hard to climb steep hills with those type of bikes.
