That's "caphe cut chon" in Vietnam, "kopi luwak" in Indonesia. Comes from the droppings of the civet cat.
I'm going to Malaysia and Indonesia next week. Maybe I'll get to try some.

got this from my malaysian counterpart who went to bag of beans in tagaytay. 1 kilogram of this coffee beans is being sold at around $500 (outside the phils). she bought half a kilogram for P7K. very expensive coffee!!! Coffee AlAMID Coffee Alamid is Philippine civet coffee that comes only from the sweetest coffee cherries of the Philippine forests. The palm civets that naturally propagate the sugar palm trees are also the same civets that choose and eat these ripe cherries. The beans are then fermented in the digestive system of the civets, then excreted as whole beans. The coffee farmers pick these civet droppings during coffee season. Coffee Alamid is a natural blend of the Philippine finest Liberica, Exelsa, Robusta and Arabica beans. The nocturnal civets freely roam the forests in the wild. The beans are all collected in the wild.

I'm kat and I'm a coffee addict! ;D I drink 4-6 cups of coffee a day. ( BTW, I only drink brewed coffee ) I've tried many brands but what I like best are the ones we buy at Rustans....Arabica High Grown and French Roast. Every year, they have this coffee festival at Glorietta and we never fail to check it out. Its a great opportunity to taste different types of coffee. So, if youre really a coffee addict, then for sure you'll enjoy it.

doc kate, i love the taste but hate the "edge" when i drink coffee. i have low tolerance, you won't believe me if i tell you c2 gives me a stiff shoulder after 30 mins. asking for a personal favor: can we visit your place sometime, and request for a capuccino? it's half-meant, but who knows? dala kami suman! (we'll bring rice cakes!)

I've been successful so far in staying off cigarettes, but never has it entered my mind to quit coffee. I have migraines when I don't get a cup of joe in a day. Best blend for me, Arabic plus Robusta (50/50)

Coffee... A day wouldn't be called a day without a cup of coffee... Just the simple nescafe will do... if my luck is kicking just right, A kape barako is just a few steps away from my nanay-inlwas kitchen... and is it true coffee makes you nervous??? I dont think so, actually a good tasting coffee relaxes my inner fire... Nakz Naman...(sprite???)
And lately Medical science have made a discovery (actually I think I have read this less than a year ago) that men who drinks 4-7 cups of coffe a day has a slim chance of being stricken by diabetes...
ANd most of all... drinking coffee is the most important ritual I do before any ride.
