Yes, Mustaine was kicked out of the band due to substance abuse. He was part of the Kill em all album but only on the recording. before it was released, they kicked him out and acquire the half pinoy guitar palyer of " Exodus " Kirk Hammet.
After that incident, Mustaine swear that he'll get back on them someday. He sue them for using his materials in the album, but i think he lost.
Then he formed Megadeth with Flatmate Dave Ellefson and produces a nastier and angrier music by lessening the progressive rock influences, adding an emphasis on instrumental skills, speeding the tempo up slightly, and making the instrumental attack harsher. By streamlining the classic thrash metal approach and making the music more threatening, as well as making the lyrics more nihilistic,
But after a decade of rivalry, Mustane is now in good terms with Hetfeild and Ulrich. But ubfortunately another metalica kicked out is now suffering the fate of Dave mustaine, Jason Newsted
check this out Megadeth's Mechanix, sounded just like Metallica's 4 horsemen Mechnix: 4 horsemen:
well... dave is credited also for the horsemen song...

well... hammett did say 'salamat sa inyong lahat' at the '93 concert.... not just the usual 'mabuhay' greeting event producers teach foreigners on how to greet the filipino crowd... ...AND, in a '92 MTV interview, i heard his 'nanay' say... "kirk! kakain na!!!!'... well, that says it all... i was floored by that.... my mind went blank for a few minutes.... hehehe....

@dall Let me find my Guitar magazine with the article with interviews with Metallica and Newsted. I think its otherwise, and Newsted walking away even surprised the band.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MetallicaNewsted leaves (2001-2003) As plans were being made to go into the recording studio in 2001, Jason Newsted left the band, ostensibly due to "the physical damage I have done to myself over the years while playing the music that I love." However, subsequent interviews with Newsted and the remaining members revealed that Newsted's desire to release and tour with his Echobrain side-project – and Hetfield's intense resistance to such an idea – was the primary cause of Newsted's departure, as Hetfield believed a release by an individual band member would somehow weaken the band. The 2004 documentary Some Kind of Monster provided more insight into the reasons for Newsted's departure. In the film he says he felt Metallica's desire to hire a therapist to help solve the problems between the band members was "f**k**g lame and weak".

metallica rules! i was in the concert of 1993, i'll never forget when they were playing "seek and destroy" then hetfield shouted "i wanna see some action!", suddenly the rattan chairs started to fly, when the music ended the was a mountain of chairs amid the crowd full of head-bangin guys on top. btw, a friend gave me a vcd with them playing with the san francisco symphony orchestra. it's f***in awesome!
still nothin' beats the black album!

paraluman rules!
before the concert began, i told my buddies we should be at the barriers (bleacher lang kami), because it will fall, sure enough, it did. we got nearer to the stage as a result.
after the front act, they turned off the lights and the distinct riff of Enter Sandman came in and everyone was just blown out of their wits
