personally ive tried cramping in an Everest and it feels like i wanted to pay the driver P20 to take me to kalaw (feels like an FX) Escape feels much better than a Tribute. i chose Starex, too sir allegra and am using one today. lots of space and uber tipid sa gas, even at A/T

I'd go with the Everest anytime. Its cheaper, diesel, much roomier, has extra seating in the back, decent torque and power, and very reasonable comfort. It also has bigger tires and higher ground clearance for off roading. I've gone all over with 5 adults, 2 kids, two golf bags, boxes of supplies and all our bags, plus two bikes on the rear tire bike rack. No problemo. You can easily fit three bikes inside if you fold down the rear seats. Plus, the simple diesel engine means you can get service practically anywhere.
If you need more comfort, but dont need the extra space, get the escape. Accdg. to my ford friends, while th escape and tribute are practically the same platform (mazda is owned by ford), the escape is somehow more comfortable. The 3.0 escape is a rocket, but it guzzles gas like no tomorrow.

Ford owns mazda I think (majority) Check out legal actions filed by Francisco motors to Ford hehehehe Mazda Tribute and Ford Escape Shares the same platfrom and Factory. They are like twins hehehehe Ford dealers are known to be a pain in the a ss, ask ted about or gulliver about issues with his Ford Ranger. Basically they all have Japanese breeding I suggest you go with the Mazda. I dont trust the Americans.

however, the grand vitara zips too much gas...
I'd go for the Everest... Yup, very spacious and reliable car. My best friends family owns a Everest... 2 weeks gone to Pagadian - Cagayan - Bukidnon - General Santos - Davao vice versa in two weeks... No problemo... Aircon is very good too... However, i dont like much about is the styling and the sound system... The 108 (?) hp SOHC engine is quite a performer... can easily beat a Fortuner in curves... Rides a little bit rough but knowing its a pick-up based vehicle, it feels like a truck especially when you bump it into anything...
Engine - 9/10 Performance - 7/10 Comfort - 8/10 Space - 10/10 Styling - 7/10 Interior Refinement - 8/10 Quite Good... Leather Steering and Dashboard Handling - 8/10 - Rides best in curves ;D
