zup guuys? while reading an article on the net, forgot the site, I met a phrase that tires-for trials- should be bigger/fatter on the rear for better grip and front tire must be half the size of the rear so it's easy to be lifted ..I'm currently using IRC serac 2.1 both on my front and rear wheel but it feels slippery...could you suggest sizing and brand should I use for better grip and bump proof...TIA

I use maxxis minions 2.35 ST tires before... very good for all-around riding if u ask me. great for concrete, bombproof too! im using nevegals right now but the minions were much better...

it depends on what kind of trials rider you are sir... patrick uses these 2.5 downhill tires with thick sidewalls and told me has never gone pinch flat with it... patrick likes playing on natural terrain though (rocks, grass, soil)...
i use the maxxis holy roller, its 2.4 but fast rolling(ideal for concrete and cemented terrain, urban in short), it has very good grip too, never had a pinch despite things that patrick and I do...
i use 2.4 for both front and rear, with dx32 rim at the rear and mavic221 up front to shave some weight (if i really did shave some hehehe)... its one way of training yourself to land properly knowing that your using XC rims on your front hehehe ;D

Hi forcebinder long time......
Minions are the "DHF" and the "DHR" right? get the "DHF" both for front and rear tires for Trials.
Any good DH tire will work, among the best are minions, high roller, IRC Kujo. Im using a hansventure 2.4 at the rear now and a Kujo infront. I couldn't complain to both. Using a DH tire will prevent pinch flats.

okidoki sir pat... thanks I'll be hunting LBS for DH...hehehe could I use 2.2 on the front? Yes you can but I couldn't remember how good the 2.1-2.2 front tire is anymore...hehe over shadowed by the 2.3 in front... May I suggest maybe using a DH tire in front and loose the headlock if your using one it will weigh the same more or less...as long as you have a steel steerer tube in the fork

Dont ask me about 24s hehe i'm a purist but 24 will do wonders for a Pinoy. We should ride 24s.

ross at cartimar brother knob hi tol patrick long time no see... hey coilerblue. i read your post this morning and i was able to pass by Ross on my way home. unfortunately they ran out of stock of 2.35 minions, they only have the really wide ones left (2.6 or 2.7) with the orange lining on the sidewall. good thing they finally have those big ass GZ shorts in stock so i got one instead. thanks anyways brad.

hey...for 24s??? I'd use singletrack rims...I wouldn't use 24's for trials, but don't let that stop you from trying them...hehe
I'm using singletracks right now, so far they haven't showed any sign of weakness and I've been using them, I think, for almost 2 years?
I'd recommend knobby tires for trials like: Maxxis Minions(both the front and rear specific are ok), Maxxis Swampthings, what else...Kenda Nevegals and Kenda Kinetics are nice too...
For maxxis, the Super Tacky versions are great and so are the stick-e's by Kenda...hehe As for the size...the most common is 2.3 and some 2.5s... For the price of Maxxis STs and Kenda Stick-E's, my guess would be, not lower than 1k? Am I right?...hehe
