I run a 36 x 18 with a 24 in. rear wheelset. I tend to spin out on the 18 tooth cog though. On another note, have you noticed the new crop of Da Bomb 9 is to 1 converters? The cogs now have shift ramps, unlike the first generation, which where thick and had no ramps...

The cogs now have shift ramps, unlike the first generation, which where thick and had no ramps... yeah, i think it's just a cog taken out from a geared cogsets. i heard a complaint earlier at all terra, a singlespeed biker uses the new 18T cogs from Da bomb 9 to 1 converter. while cruising on his SS the chain went off from the cogs not from the cranks and he almost fell, good thing he was able to balance and avoid the accident. when i checked on his 18T cogs it has ramps and skarhead is correct that 1st generation cogs are much thicker than the new ones........so be careful in buying, be sure to install the tensioner so it can compensate the ramp from the new design of Da bomb. btw my setup it 32X20 or 40X20 sometimes......i wanna try 36X20.

i mean the roller type tensioners sir. even with pullers, tappered cogs would still drop chains.

On another note, the new bolt-on tensioners from da bomb are quite cool! They replace your drop out with it. Sadly it isn't for all frames, just specifically for da bomb frames... comes with a trick lookin' orange pulley!

;Din this case use a COG guide (is that what they call it?), hehehe so that the chain wont fall off your COG
instead of spacers sandwich your cog between guides,
maybe custom plastic, larger diameter than your cog....
used to have single speed with haro 33t and stock the bomb 9 to 1 converter 18t cog, kmc bmx chain.
frame has horizontal drop out.

...riding a 24 x 13 gear combo...this is the only gear ratio where i was able to get rid of the tensioner, but i have to use a half-link (courtesy of cherrybomber, thanks man ) to get the right chain tension...the chain drops from the cog on uphill climbs though so i made myself a chain guide out of vcd cover (the plastic material is just right ;D)...now i can do bunnyhops with confidence knowing the chain will not drop and fail me
