its all momentum. you pedal backwards because you have to keep the cranks "ahead" of the freewheel to keep the rear wheel rolling back

yeah, even if your pedalling "ahead" of the backward roll....won't you end up slowing down after a while?

Nope its not a fixed gear, he actually set his hub and cranks on the other side... Its all a joke hehe
But if your that good thats how it would look like doing a rolback since your hub will tug on the cranks and not freewheel. And you have to roll the cranks ahead like what they said to squeeze more momentum.

you could actually pump the bike backwards on a long roll back. you just need to weave it left and right to push the bike.
