successful chambas yesterday:
- did pedal gaps. the distance was a little less than 3 feet, - a 2 foot side hop, - pedal up 1 foot, and - rear wheel hopped 7 times. (thanks to brad, pat's advice) hehehe.
changing my handlebar angle, just as what pat said, helped a lot.

Joey I will check it out...
Raimun HTH. By the way, skyway, don't forget your trackstands. Are you learning pedal kicks? Incorporate backhops with pedal kicks, your ultimate goal would be using all those single moves in combination to get across a line.

when i have no work or if it's raining or if there are no dh sessions, i practice my trackstands before my usual afternoon "practice" ride.
i'm still in the process of finding my correct balance point when backhopping. sometimes i feel it but most of the time i'm just forcing it. but i'm getting there...hehehe.
this forum and you guys inspire me to progress myself because i'm the only one learning trials here in tacloban. my friends do dirt jumps while i do street/trials, but we respect each other's passion.
by the way, the numbness on my left arm still kicks after 10 minutes of riding. i guess somethings wrong with my veins. fortunately, there are a lot of "manghihilots" here. hehehe.

I had that same numbness on my left arm. I even thought it was high bloodsugar. Try a low carb diet if it will work for you. It worked for me before. Just load up on carbs before practice hehe.
I don't know if that was true or not. Most of the time I was thinking it was bad stretching or something. It will be gone in a few months or so I think.

I notice Corne/Ian on our last ride, he streched after the ride before he dumped the bike to the wagon...maybe that's his secret?hmmm.... hehehehe Exactly guyz, you must streched after each ride ! You also must warm up before riding. It doesn't mean that you need to spend 30 min for your warm up, just 5 or 10 min for your body to become hotter and ready for the effort. Do you know that the muscles have the best power at 38/39 degrees celsius ? You will jump higher and further and you will also decrease the risques of injury. Then for the streching after the ride, it's just for your body to relax after a long effort and to avoid cramps. I sometimes ride the whole week without feeling any fatigue. Well it's your choice to do this exercices or not but i seriously advice you to do it in order to have better performance and avoid injuries.

Only after 10 minutes ? Maybe it means you didn't make a good warm up and you do to much effort while you muscles are still "cold". Well.. try to make a small warm up before your next ride, to stretch a little your arm, and try to be more relax on your bike.

For the warm up and stretching i just looked at a french website who explains specific exercices for trial.
Warm up (before riding): - General warm up during 5 to 10 min (jogging or jumping cord) - slowly turn your head - turn your shoulders - turn your wrists - turn your bust - turn your knee (all of these 10 times clockwise and 10 times anticlockwise) - make several jump to feel if your are already warm and ready for the effort - then you can take your bike and start by balancing exercises and small move - Only after all of these you can start to ride properly
Stretching (after riding) : I can show you next time because i don't know the names of all the muscles in english ... =)

I've made some headway! Before last night, I used to have a really hard time setting up from standstill. I'd usually pull off pedal kicks right off the bat so I can't correct my alignment. So it's either I only do rear wheel hops or only pedal kicks - not do them together in one set.
Anyway, last night I was able to set up to a pedal hop on the rear wheel, balance on it for a moment to adjust my alignment on where I'm going, & then pedal kick a few times & hold my balance again on the rear wheel after the pedal kicks. Sarap ng feeling!

wow, that's nice, anshwa. i'm still searching my rear wheel balance point. but, these are my latest chambas since it's still pouring here in tacloban: 1. a clean 180. 2. 1/2 rockwalk - 90 degree front wheel rock then 90 degree rear wheel rock. i can't pull the bars high because i might slip. 3. 1 pedal kick after a rear wheel hop. i still cant do a pedal kick to rear wheel hop.
hopefully tomorrow the rain would settle...

hahaha... guys, "chamba" yun... it means once ko pa lang nagawa... hehehe... been trying to do it again pero sometimes short ako sa pag turn. i owe my progression to not having a regular 8hr job. hehehe... perks of our family business. so, i can practice for a long period of time. basta when i practice, i concentrate on one move only until i'm satisfied. hehehe. switched to a rigid fork today. grabe, i feel like a newbie again. i cant pop the front wheel due to the low bb height. i'll have my suspension fork modified today if the weather permits. it's still raining hard here. indoor riding only. another thing, ty to corne... i've been warming up before i practice trials my numbness decreased to a tolerable level.

Which one Raimun? The 180? Is it a front 180 or a rear 180? If its a front 180, just leap ahead of your frame to the side and pull the bike with your legs.
