Spoke Whip is when your properly aligned spokes flexes.
You can experience this in a Diskbrake setup in trials bikes, usually felt in the rear.
One example is when you hop forward on your rear with the rear brakes fully locked. You can feel a springy sensation of the bike.
At first I thought it was normal. Having 36H i think my setup is less springy. I will update this topic as soon as I get more data on the topic and more tests on my bike.
Any same experience from PinoyMTBiker guys?

maybe you better have it laced in 3-cross....most shops just do 2-cross pattern, even on DB hubs...
I never had that kind of springy feeling on mine....

That was discussed before but I wasnt able to get what distinguishes 3-cross, from what I get, I think I had it laced 3-cross. Can you explain 3-cross in simple terms lance_R_evo? I get that springing if I backhop forward at an angle (forward to mention that). Let say in an incline?

more or less the simplest explanation of a 3-cross laced wheel is that each spoke (mostly the easiest to see is the spoke on the outside of the hub flange) will cross over 3 other spokes from under the hub flange, the first two will be under the prevailant spoke, whilst the last spoke will go over the prevailant spoke, creating the tension.
oh yes, I almost forgot.... there's also the 4-cross pattern, although I don't know if it can be done on a 26" wheel, coz' this type of lacing is more common to smaller BMX wheels, now this lacing is near "flex free"....

lance_R_evo: I counted my lacing it turns out its the 2-cross type, one under and one over. Im gonna get me those 3-lace things as soon as I get my new hub. Anybody knows where can I have it laced 3-cross or I can have it done anywhere?

could it be that the springy feeling just comes from your tire, could that be connected with air pressure? i dont know, just a theory...

Nope not the tires. Its rotating jerk, felt more if the rear lands on an incline. It feels rotating because the front tire tends to bounce up more on a rotating motion not just bounce up. All these are felt by the feet only.

straight spokes has the least strength in terms of lacing.
I read 4-cross is best for 36H and 3-cross for 32H rims
