My tires have completely been getting thrashed since I started trials and they're really really old. I wanna get a new set but everytime I look one up on the net, they're not available here. Can onyone suggest some good tires for trials available here? Where exactly? Thanx!

For my opinion, any type of tyres would do except the roadie type ( super "nipis")...

Oh, thanx for the links but like I said I'm looking for TRIALS tires available in METRO MANILA. I have a good idea of what I want when I'm surfing the net but usually when I go out to buy em, the stores (even at cartimar) don't have such a wide TRIALS variety even for a stock frame. I could settle for XC tires but it would be nice to try what's out there and make a change from time to time diba?

is it better to use thick (ie 2.1", 2.5") slick tires for park/trials use? or is it not recommended? o and is it available in our LBS?

maybe this could help taken from free-du.t-com.hr/trials/faq.htmlTires No one usually pays much attention to the front tire. Keep it light but grippy, especially if you're planning on doing a lot of front wheel tricks or riding during the winter. Most of riders use 2.0" or 2.1" front tires. Fatter tire usually isn't worth the added weight. Rear tire, however, is more important. We want something wide to increase friction (especially in the nature or during poor weather conditions), from 2.25" to 2.6". Watch for the tire pattern – it should be uniform and fairly dense to provide you with better grip on that slippery rock. They should also be a bit softer if you ride lots of natural (in urban environment they would wear down too soon). Not so few trials frames have only 2.25" tire clearance, so sometimes you'll have your choice already made. For the rest of you, tires that will work fine are IRC El Gato, Kenda Kinetics, Specialized Evil Twin, Michelin 24.1 Comp, IRC El Kujo, Continental Vertical ProTection (for front), Tioga Factory DH (although some riders hate these tires) etc. IRC El Gato is the only tire designed specifically for trials, also offering pinch flat protection and a lot of weight. If you can stand the red sidewall and can get it, just do by all means. Continental Vertical ProTection is a soft-compond tire with many great technologies, and a good choice especially for the front in the bad weather conditions (it can be used in the rear as well, if you turn in on the other side). Kenda Kinetics is a hard tire good for dry weather featuring a nice thread pattern and offering long wear life. There is also a lighter version with an orange sidewall, but it is said it pinch flats too easy.

Does tire size depend on the rim size too???
I mean if your rim size are like double wide or double wall??? then your tire would increase its width???
Off topic i guess...

Off topic i guess... yup! usually dpat ganon. you're tire size must fit your rims too. but there are some who use narrow rims and their tires are big sizes. and, actually, it depends on your bike too (the fork also).

lellow, what type of trials do you do? natural or urban? ( Im kinda hoping i will learn both ) I use 2.3 in front (spez) and 2.4 on the rear (holyroller), the holyroller is very grippy especially on loose dirt and concrete. I dont plan to change the type of tires im using at present, im willing to try other brand too but i prefer to be able to try it out first (from other bikes). My front tire is quite worn out im might shift to a 2.2 to save weight

My tires are both 2.1 because I stole them from my old school mtb since I bought roadies for my new bike for city riding. Now I'm starting to look for that extra reliability in grip.

My classes end at 12 and I live at Marikina so it shouldn't be so hard.

Student... uhmm lapit na rin exams e. Its getting busy so I'll look for you guys again about a month from now. Yehey!
Also, with carefull and very excited deliberation, I've decided to get the Holly Roller for the rear and anything light at about 2.2, 2.3 in the front.
Thank you all very much for helping me make this decision.
