BTW,
I 'd also make the rear rotor : 6 inches only ...there was a study by physics peeps in the US that you dont need a bigger rotor at the rear coz its effective only to a point.
so maintain 8inch rotor at front and put a 6er at the back...an alligator windcutter 6incher is tops for it
+ use XT H2 cranks ...much lighter among the tough cranks out there ..less bling and more Xc lookin though
BTW, I guess the owner used a digital scale? ...36.10 lbs. so he must have

Loose the DeeMax wheels and get some Industry9 Enduro's, that'l shave more than a pound off, and it would probably be stronger too! Why not remove the seat/seat-post as well? It will lower the center of gravity, just wear padded shorts!

Upgrade to SDG I-beam seatpost & SDG I-beam Bel-Air ST; magnesium pedals; XT hollowtech cranks. I'd keep the 8" rotors though. You could change over to an air rear shock but the coil-over is way better for DH.

You could change over to an air rear shock but the coil-over is way better for DH. i second to Anshwa, i had my DH shaved almost 2 pounds changing seat and seatpost to SDG i beam, magnesium pedals, i switched to OCT crankset and a mavic 729's...coil suspension is still best for me but to match the DHX air TI coil will equal to that but i dont have that bread to buy TI's and if i did i could shaved off more than 2lbs then! One way around to shave more is to get a 1 ply Minion but im not sure how long it will last weight beating naman di ba? he he he E13 Ali stem is also a shave off only 175 grams, dunno what breaks installed on that socom but juicy carbon will help too

[he loves to compete for fun!] patiis ride with major's socom....... D@mn! That was a quick upgrade! Well if it's the weight that's the easily budgeted concern, change the brakes to Juicy Carbons. Don't know if the set up already has UST wheels. If not, UST wheelset w/ DH Minions (2.35 rear/2.5 front). There are aluminum rotors available so that's another option. Change all bolts to Ti bolts. Wow, congrats on the rig. But really, it doesn't need any more upgrading. It's beautiful as it is.

since the owner switched to 7-inch rotors, i heard there are 7-inch alligator wind cutter rotors available. the 6-inch version weighs 91 grams each. havent weighed the 7-inchers though. you might also want to try those syntace 200gram DH handle bars. i almost had one before but let go becoz i had no rig in place to use it for. good idea on those pedals. those are the entry level shimano clipless pedals with platforms right? those are the lightest around, i think. who says you need to pay more to be light, hehehe. ;D hmmm......i have an SDG I-beam saddle. im actually selling one but i might cut the seat post to around 2 inches to save more weight if no one's buying. my all mountain rig weighs in at a hefty 34.55 lbs. this is cruel specially when i saw this thread. makes me want to saw off my bike's top tube, hehehe. ;D so what's the exact weight of the bike as of the moment? by the way sir evs, can you please post the specs of this bike. i might learn a thing or 2, hehe. thanks in advance po.

Man, you guys got a gnarly, slippery, dangerous speed trap rock straightaways that gave me goose bumps from start to finish! I would love to that again though and get back at those rocks which pinned me, he he. one ride is not enough there. Im back in Davao now and back to my senses. thanks for all you dh freaks i met. had a wonderful time. [keep these type of topic on PM] happy riding everybody.

[sorry i think u knew this part will be deleted right?]
can i add! to your beutiful SOCOM
1. mavic 721 dh rim lighter than deemax rim this is the v brake version dh rim but same strentgh as the 729 and the mavic tubeless rim. world cup riders use this!
2. go for the integrated stem on your boxxer, funn, e 13 ali stem. if you do this No more twisted bars and
if you do this you will cut almost 1 inch off your world cup boxxer steerer tube, weight savings
3. use STAR NUT to preload your top headset to save weight,

rocketman.....even if u put 721/729.......theres a big difference if u compare it to deemax ust [tubeless wheelset] 28h/ 135mm rear hub.......nice input but it never beat the wt issue of the deemax 07 tubeless wheelset
for now he just settle what wt socom have ;D
