red bull rampage has always entertained me..a rider has to know his/her limits..riders get injured because they push their limits.. and thats a good thing though...whats bad is when the skill cant anymore cope up with a particular stunt that a rider thinks is doable... like bender doing a 100?? zion freeride festival na pumalit sa rampage! lupit!

I partially agree with this... Records, limits and boundaries are made to be broken but it is not the reason why some people push themselves to the breaking point. Rather, it is the knowledge and belief that it can be done. That we can push further and it will not promise fame or financial security not even the security of coming out unhurt, uninjured or even alive. Althrough human history you'll find people who have struggled and persevered through physical, mental and emotional pain just to achieve a single feat of greatness. It is one human characteristics which sets us apart from aminals. Watching the Rampage has always left me at awe.

the redbull rampage was never a bad thing for our team,in fact the rampage was one of the very few events that inspired us to go riding....the freeriding community considers its as the future of freeride back then....and it sure lived up to it.....this will go down in the brief history of freeride as the event that forged it.......

Okay lang kahit walang Rampage, may Red Bull District Ride naman eh DownTown DownHill? Parang sing delikado rin to ah, since pag na overshoot / magkamali ka sa landings mo concrete bagsak mo But in either contest ( Rampage and District Ride ) the weight on the scores is malaki ata sa Style and Technical Lines choices rather than Huck - Highest Drop. Sayang wala ng Rampage, but i think babalik tong event and maybe dehins na dun sa Utah idadaos. But sabi nga ni Endoboy, my Zion Freeride naman tsaka my Slopestyle na rin Freeriding and DH racing parehas delikado. ( a japanese female DH racer nung 2003 ata yun namatay during practice run sa isang course sa US ) Better be equipped with the necessary Armour and of course the SKILLS for this type of Riding, and pag oras mo na, oras mo na talaga yan Let it Rolll

i like the red bull rampage,i buy BIKE magazine just to to envy and wish i could do it too! Riders who are joining are not being pressured to join by their own sponsors. It's like a triple or step-up jump in a race, you can take it or roll it! Every sport has it's extreme side. it's the extremist who play the red bull. some people do it for money and some do it for respect. As rockefeller sez---how to satisfy man--"just a little MORE"

;D ;D ;D amen to that.... its the single most excellent way to promote freeriding... none has gone bigger than the rampage. if it werent for the rampage, our sport wouldnt have progressed as to what it is today and it is a very good inspiration for other riders... and f***ing good to watch too! there are way more riders getting badly injured doing movies and in dh than the rampage... waddell, simmons, butler, tarek, hunter, etc. all had almost career ending injury doing films, drop-in, racing dh, etc. there are none, in my memory, that got this badly injured in rampage...

Careful, huckster . You dont want to to mess with personalities at PinoyMTBiker my dossentimos amigo RedBull Rampage is or was a pivotal event but as a FR stunt course it was also a recipe for disaster...its so dangerous that it cannot be helped that a significant number of riders were injured in a major fashion I would rather base jump (cliff or bridge jump with chute in hand) than ride such a course personally. Im happy RedBull Rampage happened but that "stunt"event needs to be limited or tamed for it to be sustained as a spectator sport IMHO. Have you guys seen the Japanese festival where guys ride huge logs of wood downhill ? I rest my case BTW, for those who have original RedBull Rampage DVDs..hold on to your treasures

I also enjoy watching freeride competitions. Galeng how they could stretch their limits.
But I guess despite all the mentioned benefits (tech testing ground, nice to watch , etc.) freeriding still attracts a number of immature, perpetual-juveniles who substitute the height of their drops for their lack of "other matter". Here is a good example.
Ganyan naman talaga ang mga "macho" sports... you can't avoid it. There will always be good and rotten people. The good FR guys probably have good mental discipline as well.
Other cycling competitions like XC which promote safety, physical and mental discipline are likely to attract more mature individuals, whilst being a turn-off for these few "elitists". Kita nyo naman paano nya maliitin ang XC---which btw is also a testing ground for cycling technology particularly when it comes to long-drawn performance which require maximum efficiency over brute power.

[glow=yellow,2,300]Guys, no need to argue for Redbull Rampage. To each his own when it comes to loving it or hating it. In my opinion, Its either I can do it or not.
I've learned to study the jumps first before I try to prevent injury and I know my limits too. The same goes to those guys who compete at Red Bull. So if they can make it or not, it's their call. The important thing is, they did what they want. [/glow]
