CROSS-COUNTRY (WOMEN'S) :
Gold - Philippines (Maritess Bitbit)
Silver - Vietnam
Bronze - Vietnam
Vietnam tailed Maritess by 6 minutes.
It was raining sooo hard when the girls raced,
hence the crashes and mechanical problems.
Four girls did not finish the race, including
2 Filipinas. The race course was terribly
technical and dangerous with the rain.
CROSS-COUNTRY (MENS') :
Gold - Philippines (Eboy Quiñones)
Silver - Philippines (Niño Surban)
Bronze - Indonesia (Ali Usman)
The rain stopped when these guys raced but the trails
were still hazardous. At first the Indonesian (SEA
Games silver) led the pack. Then Niño Surban overtook
him and was way ahead of everyone until he encountered
mechanical problems. Eboy Quiñones overtook Niño to
win the gold! Five guys including 2 Filipinos didn't
finish the race due to flats, totally broken derailleurs
and other mechanical problems. Their bikes were a sorry
sight.
