Is it true, that chicken soup is an effective remedy for colds? or is it just the steam coming from the hot soup that gives the relief?

It will stay for a while then move on to next person ;D. But chicken soup will help. For me the best remedy is lemon or calamase with honey mix with hot water .

i've read from health magazines that chicken soup, plain chicken broth or the chicken noodle soup that our moms and lolas used to serve, is an effective cold remedy. i've never tried it, maybe it's just one of those urban legends.

from what i learned, cold viruses weaken or die in high temperatures. maybe that's the reason behind warm soup. although i normally do water therapy, then take hot soup

lots of people actually attest to the effectivenes of chickensoup... even though for different reasons... some say the steam... some the flavor... some the actual thoughtfulness of the person who prepared it. but there are statistics... i just gotta find it again that show that people who did take chicken soup while having colds got well almost twice as fast as those who took the traditional route of just plain cold medications...
so what're you waiting for? eat up!!

True! There was also a study in Nebraska(forgot the institute ;D) which claims that specially prepared (homemade or traditional recipes)chicken soup actually has anti-inflamatory properties and some chemotactic affects on particular blood cells. Chicken soup is not just placebo.
