guys, i have a question: a few weeks ago, when i was hit by dengue and landed in the hospital for 4 days. My urinalysis then was ok. now, just two weeks after that episode, my urinalysis said +2protein, +3glucose...which sort of says that i may have a renal problem or diabetic tendency. my dr friend says i should start dieting and do exercise everyday, which meant more time with my bike. but im a little disturbed about this. am i gonna die?

brad,
Urinalysis alone is not really that accurate to determine diabetes or renal problems. If you're really concerned about this problem I suggest that you see your doctor to better evaluate you and give you peace of mind.

guys, i have a question: a few weeks ago, when i was hit by dengue and landed in the hospital for 4 days. My urinalysis then was ok. now, just two weeks after that episode, my urinalysis said +2protein, +3glucose...which sort of says that i may have a renal problem or diabetic tendency. my dr friend says i should start dieting and do exercise everyday, which meant more time with my bike. but im a little disturbed about this. am i gonna die? whoa!! dengue? that one ain't no joke, good to see you're up and about... but tell you what... you were probably more in danger when you were being treated for dengue coz there is really is no cure for that except to replace your systems losses and try to keep your body from bleeding out. +2 protein / albumin means that your kidneys are kinda leaking and you have a tendency to develop Hypertension... nag pa blood pressure ka na ba recently? this is controllable naman with the proper medications. sugar on the otherhand means that you might.. i repeat might have diabetes, it all depends on family history and your overall dietary and exercise habits. again this is controllable. so in answer to your question.... no i do NOT think you're gonna die.... so we suggest that you scoot over to your family doctor follow his advice.... get into a diet... and best of all... KEEP ON RIDING!!!
