how do you lower uric acid in your blood? i know that you should stay away from beans and lamang-loob (i.e. isaw), and i heard that drinking lots of water could help...is this true?

Reduce high uric acid levels in your body by following a gout diet routine. You can safely 50-60 grams of protein per day. These grams can come from cereals, milk, vegetable and eggs.
High purine-containing food such as meat, liver, and fish should be avoided. (Any vegetarian will tell you that it is not difficult to avoid these foods). You can enjoy moderate amounts of fat. For consumption it will decrease uric acid that you excrete in your urine. Kailangan i-jingle nating ang uric acid content s body.
Fluids and beverages are advised to help you excrete high uric acid. You can enjoy 2-3 cups of tea or coffee in your diet per day. All alcoholics drinks are forbidden. Drink plenty of water that does not contain chlorine. Cherry juice is believed to be very helpful.

the worst pain i have experienced was due to gouty arthritis. believe me, tiklop talaga ako pag ganito! can't move at all without the toe joint subjected to excruciating pain. bed ridden ako for a few days and the pain lasts for two to three weeks. i walk with a pronounced limp.
agree, diet is still the best way to prevent it. avoid high purine foods! if all else fails, allopurinol usually does the trick. pain can be managed by cox2 inhibitors. (usual drugs prescribed are celebrex or arcoxia.) do NOT self medicate though. best to consult a doctor.

All of you guys are correct with regards to eating the right food with low purine content and drinking lots of water. Apple cider mixed with honey (just to lessen the sourness) also helps a lot daw. But the other thing you can do to lessen your uric acid and the possibility of a gout attack (especially if your 40 and above na) is to exercise more often. This Im sure we dont have any problem given that we are bikers. Ive had about 4 gout attacks since I turned 40 3 years ago and my last attack is close to a year ago na and I notice that the attacks occur during my lean biking season. Hope this helps.
