First, i would consider the lighting. If it's kinda harsh (around 10 am-12 pm), i would not take photos. But if it was around 6:30-7:30 am, when the sun's rays is just right then things would be interesting. Second, i'd consider my subject. Look for interesting subjects, patterns, and lines. Lastly, keep it simple. A photo with a good subject to background relationship would usually attract viewers. While a photo with a lot of elements could be distracting. I'd also advice to keep shooting or take photos whenever you can and show it to your audience so that you can hear feedback from them if ever they'd let you know

spyghost, based on a photog friend's advice. those times would be hot and the sun would be at angle that would have the following effects. 1) without eye or head cover, you'd be squinting. 2) if you're not squinting, a shadow could be cast under your eyes and you'd have that eyebag look 3) with headgear, your face would be pretty much covered so you'd have a bright body/torso but dark head.

lighting is kinda harsh or strong at those times and you're using mobile phone cams. the photo usually have overexposed backgrounds. Also, i'm not a fan of HDR photos. whereas you'll get colors from the sun's rays during the morning, try to observe the sky around these times I'd usually include the sky as well in my photo.

OT: Ha ha ha, ang mahal pala ng dropper, kailangan ng matinding ipon. 5 digits rin pala yun, then again i was looking at CB and DaBomb.
back on topic, would it be worth to get yung parang wrist harness na may cam/phone holder kesa magdala ng selfie stick?
oh, another thing, lately parang mas gusto ko magdala na lang ng camera, record on HD then milk the video for still photos. mobile phones are just to fidgety for me, minsan kapag basa pa kamay ko sa pawis eh dehins ko ma-control ang screen.

for me, as much as possible, i'd bring a dslr, lalo na kung epic trail or location ang pupuntahan the downside for this is that you should have a proper bag for your camera, mahirap din kasi mag ligpit ng cam during trails, it's not advisable to remove/replace lens outside. another would be the weight issue, you are already carrying water, stuff, then add the weight of a camera
