I recall meeting Papa Rocky here in the forums and seeing his FB posts now, he still has not stop riding! We hope we could still meet the pioneers of PinoyMTBiker

Also Mang Ricardo of Team Sandugo... Obviously for his age he isn’t fast anymore but given that he can ride TH trails at his age (and go up and down wall several times in a row), man that is really something in comparison to the young ones!
Thing about the modern age right now is that online videos pressure everyone to be someone else. Heck pro riders had their entire lives dedicated to riding (ie career) hence they can do cool and awesome moves. But for weekend warriors like most, as long as you can beat your previous self and overcome your set realistic goals, you’re good.
Remember, even if you are slow, you are beating every couch potato by a huge gap every pedal stroke you do. An exercise done no matter how short is better than not done at all.

Depends on ones physical constitution, I guess. Some people just age better than others or at least maintain good condition as they grow older.
On my 2nd Guimaras adventure, I was already bonking at the start due to my poor stamina especially for uphills. It should've been easier on cement but there I was lagging behind the group - patigil-tigil pa. While on the last climb trying to catch the group, imagine my surprise when I received a push from another rider. It was my first time to experience that, being pushed by another while he was riding as well. We rested at the peak to another surprise - he offered me a cigarette, not a hint of panting in his breath. And then another... that he is 64 years old.
In Korea 2006, my mostly white ride mates were in their 50s and can still shred. I guess continuously doing what we love helps too. I was forty at the time.

The oldest racers in the downhill and enduro community in Luzon are senior citizens. They still hit the jumps + gaps and do respectable times.

Nice to hear that... I can say that I'm a late cyclist bloomer.. I'm already on my 30's when I purchased my first entry level mountain bike. Looking back, I should've get myself into mountain biking earlier. Oh well, perhaps di pa ganun ka rampant ang mtb way back early 2000's or maybe mga friends ko iba ang trip that time.
In few years, I will reach 40... andun yung dalawang isip if to pursue trails or stick na lang ako sa city biking? haha... Nyway, I enrolled myself to basic mtb trail riding clinic here in my area. Tomorrow yung first day, hopefully not too late to ride like Danny Hart or Matt Jones. Haha.

Good day guys. I'm 57 and still ride my mt. bike occasionally whenever the weather is good. I miss the good old days back there when I used to ride with the other fellows back then. Hopefully I can bring my bike back home and do some ride with some of you guys next time. Keep safe and RIDE ON!!!

Good to know that there are still active 50 something riders. I am 54 years old and I am rediscovering the beauty of mountain biking. Hope we can have a get together soon! Let's start with simple trails not too technical.

It's been an old thread but want to share...
Marami Pinoy dito sa Malaysia, and fortunate enough, na meet ko sila and mostly mahilig mag trails. What I notice, medyo may edad na rin sila... probably 35+ almost my age?
Then sa trails, marami na rin old pero rakista ang dating. What I noticed, sila kase yung medyo naka ipon na? stable? or retired? Sila usually yung may carbon FS na yayamanin. Hehe.. nakakatuwa kase they still ride. Kahit yung iba eh tumatama yung tyan sa tuhod nila pero jump kung jump. Hehehe.
I got inspired... kaya lagi ako nag riride. Nakaka alis tlaga ng stress lalo na ngayong pandemic. Sobrang laki ng tulong.
