So like, did you ever find yourself in a situation where your rear tires are drifting? kinda like a Rallye Car hehehehe
or
do you bank (spell?) just like those bigbikes we see on the track when cornenring>>?
Whats the best way to handle a fast corner?
Getting the apex is one thing. Right entance and right exit

So like, did you ever find yourself in a situation where your rear tires are drifting? kinda like a Rallye Car hehehehe Yes but only on lefthand corners (Im not too aggressive turning right) especially on hardpack to loose soil with no berms (flat or off-camber)... And if you enter the turn aggressively fast to super fast. (dont really know what speed basta if you pedal all out that's super fast. same speed with slight feathering of brakes before the turn is just fast... ;D). Ofcourse no brakes while turning. This is how I attack corners: For sharp turns & switchbacks (you'll know while approaching if you cant see the exit right away) hehehe! that's how I analyze the turns... kanya2x lang diskarte!I normally take the outside line then turning in just before the apex (using either counter steering or counter leaning depending on the track, or usually instinctively whatever the track gives you) For slightly curved turns (if the exit is somehow visible while approaching) I use the inside line and normally dont experience drifting. go fast... ride hard... take chances...

I think both techniques are equally effective... It just depends on what technique you're most accustomed to... Try practicing both techniques and just feel what will work for you better. Probably its harder to use counter steering on tight singletracks. In this case counter leaning would probably make sense. good luck and see you on the trails!

In my experience
its hard to bank your bike on a downhill run, *dehins kasi pantay ang weight on front/rear tire
Do you pedal on hairpins? Ive seen on some videos where they pedal bike to recover from skidding.
cool!

Especially those wheelies to exit a corner! ;D

wana learn a cool trick?
No brakes needed........... just lean ur way into n out of it.........everytime u feel like its gna slip sideways? just tap ur pedals forward n ur bike will stand upright again then start pumping ur fork n apply ur body weight to ur front end to regain traction n steering as u exit ....then pedal away...............
learned that from .........................secwet!.............nyahahahaha........
just like riding MX tho....... gas it up when ur slipping ryt? nyahahahahahahaha...........pzych! ;D

here my take, when you're drifting, try to control it by countersteering. in bike speak, if your rear wheels are getting out of control, say going left, then steer to right and your weight on that side. as for the banking, use the gyro-scopic effect by putting up more speed in order to gain balance just so, remember to distribute the weight so that you won't end up crashing.

Here's a trick that makes the counter steer technique easier. "With your hands on the brake lever hoods or drops, just give a gentle push with either hand and you will instantly go that way. Simply push on the side you want to go." So, if you find yourself perilously close to the trail edge and need to veer to the left, push with the left hand. Your weight will instantly offset slightly to the left, taking the bike that way. It takes just a nudge (or twitch, as we called it). Push with the left hand to go to the left; push with the right to go to the right. Practice in safe conditions and you'll quickly get the hang of it... Be caution when you first try it...

brad, have u watch fundamental video?......u could learned a techniq how to drift or cuttish or banking. first doing it time hard......u have to dedicate yourself in doing this techniq kinda time hard......but it will give u lots of advantage once u master it in cornering even banking likewise drifting then pedal all the way but the key there i think should be have stable rear wheel (tru ax baka kumalas kasi ung QR) i'd experienced this last dh race @ majayjay a little techniq to share: 1. focus the in's & out's of the letter S (parang ganun) 2. cut the apex (parang ediretso mo ung turn then focus k ulit s next turn cut mo ulit) 3. your leaning toward your handlebar then follow body movement syempre (medyo may weight s front para ung rear wheel magsway) 4. apply very little brakes - dont lock it always focus s enrty point then u feel ur rear wheel swaying left/right banging the berms then back to upright position (kelangan may speed) then pedal all the way (ang sarap ng feeling once nagawa mo!) your in a little bit infront (attack position) of your handlebar be in control. note: have confident in your tire. 5. watch motoGP & F1 - u noticed these aliens riders how they approach the turns & preparing the elbow turn without time hard also with a constant speed! 6. apply it & more practice! safety gear is a must! peace

ot. puregutz......been observing & envious this techniq watching the pros, aliens or local (joey b), doing this skill......astig 1's u learned this skill u want more speed thats why they keep on pedalling......be confident on your tire when cornering, attacking the berms & banking......tractions will keep u to upright position as well as speed...... syempre we will be there......tsibugan b yan after?......party on! peace

jay join me? budbod? so sir erwin has a new bike shop, where in taytay?
cutties is u put your weight on front of the bike, and let the rear tire drift left or right (fish tail)with out using your brakes.
learning to drift your front and rear tire without using brakes is indeed a advance bike skill.
practice, practice

jay join me? budbod? so sir erwin has a new bike shop, where in taytay? Sure pre... Let meet at erwins bikeshop at 8am. Its located along the main road about 50meter from Mcdo, Taytay. Before you turn left at the road going to budbod/el monteverde/dropzone, its the store accross the street on the right side of the road. Beside their petron gasul shop. back to the topicThere are lots of opportunities to practice drifting on our local trail. Lots of high speed turns. They're wide open so you dont worry about going offline. The best place to practice drifting.... See you saturday guys! ;D

nyahahahah its not that advance actually................... its kinda second nature.... if only u guys trained with arjuna n boyet way way back..... "cutties" as lars tribus calls it, is like second nature when your used to goin fast on ur DH bike.... u see the basic principle n law in "cutties" are :
"THE MORE YOU MOVE UR STEERING ANGLE THE HIGHER UR RATE OF TWISTING AND CRASHING BY LOSING FRONT TRACTION".
thus a 1" lift in the rear tire as u corner(for about 0.25-0.50seconds) and adding weight to the front will compensate traction n control!
Ask Joey Barba how he does it on rocks and roots............ ehehehehehe.

and theres also an alternative to practicing this on the trail........ find a 10 story building with a fire escape and ladder/ staircase on the side of the building.
CRAZY HUH? ..... you really wanna learn right? trust me!.....this works!
It will train ur fast cornering n turning skills and at the same time take away your "altitude sickness" (Bonamine wont work on this one ...lol)
NICE VIEW especially when ur 10 stories up n a concrete parking lot waiting for u to plummeth all the way down noh? ahahahahah.....
10 floors= 3 mins
