just make sure your gf or wife is ready for xc or downhill biking. if she has the guts to go down stairs or drop at least 1.5 ft, then you know shes ready ninjabiker ninjabiker, My wife doesnt do 1.5 ft drops or ladders but she enjoys riding the trails.... she wont hesitate walking the techy parts & has visited Maarat trail more frequently than I did. Try to get her involve with fellow female bikers you'll be surprised how fast her confidence grows. Just dont expect her to know every bits of mechanical part of her bike ;D Ask her to sign up on the mail group below.... and guys dont ever dream you can gain access here, its Elai and Angela who's approving the membership, it wont be that easy. groups.yahoo.com/group/mtbbabes/

Problem is my girlfriend wants to try DH, ayaw daw nya XC kasi she doesn't want to climb. Should I take her straight to a DH course? I dont know rin what bike to lend her, my dh race bike or my FS trail bike. The DH bike could be safer and mas comfortable kasi its really made for DH... Maybe I should let her try both first. Any suggestions on a relatively easy DH trail? Ideal ba sa tagaytay? ei jay, just realized that you're the dude who wants to bring his girl to the DH trails. As a pro downhill racer i'm sure you know better, so d'ya really think this is a sensible idea brad? (echoing the other guys' comments here) Has she ridden any trails lately or any, if at all? Or will she be taking the proverbial plunge straight into the descent world without any real mt.bike experience? I dunno, that's a scary proposition man unless she too has pure gutz hehe i agree with warlock that you should hook her up with girl bikers like the mtbbabes. Or take her in a relatively easy trail with moderate or minimal climbs but with interesting and doable downhills (hm may ganun ba?) how about sta.rosa or muntinlupa? tagaytay? maybe peak 3, that would be a good fast, straight-forward run - at least before the really steep, technical portions after the series of households...on second thought, the trail is now littered with sizeable humps (the locals prolly built it) so 'big air' seems inevitable.. it could be a bit unnerving for a newbie if ever you guys are in makiling, laguna lemme know. i can show you around the local trails there. the main downhill trail there is fast, rutty and rocky but the thing is you gotta climb it first to earn the DH run..but i wouldn't advise it for beginners either

Hey Merv, Apparently my gf is all talk. Just as I thought... Probably just got curious everytime I tell her about our Dh rides.
We rode last Sunday in Laguna inside the village's cemented roads (Makiling Heights). Then when I saw this short off road kinda-DH track, she got scared just looking at it... Well at least she already knows how to change gears! ;D

haha! all talk lang pala ;D well, thats what you call fighting spirit hehe..see you BOTH in the trails soon! going back to the topic, my gf and i just arrived from Baguio - biked around the village there-- her seat was set low so her feet could reach the ground in case she needed to bail.. it was tough on her though on uphills since her legs weren't extending all the way -- when she gets more confident i will adjust the seat height.. better that she be safe
